Why not? Do you mean they'll use the storage track just east of Laird like they do at Glencairn on Line 1 for short turns?

From the Crosstown Interchange report for the TTC Board meeting: I wonder if this means that they'll now be able to keep the existing (45 year old) centre pocket track north of Eglinton Station on Line 1. It would be nice for operational flexibility.

Here's something I posted almost two years ago regarding my thoughts on the bus routes and Line 5. This was just after the TTC report (which included the map posted above) was released.

If you're talking about SOUTH of Sheppard West, it's where the ATC gets turned on (northbound) or where the ATC gets turned off and the operator takes full control (southbound). The trains stop momentarily both ways for the switch-over.

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

Ha, ha. What a (well-deserved) slap in the face for BBD. Their PR people have egg on their faces now I guess, although no one will know it. Talk about no credibility left!

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

Did the Bombardier media event in Millhaven (showing off ION LRV and Metrolinx Eglinton LRV) ever occur today; Monday December 4? I haven't heard a thing about it in the press, or on-line including this forum.

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Does anyone know if the livery for the Crosstown (Bombardier Flexity Freedom) vehicles will be the grey, black and white that we've seen on the first (prototype?) Metrolinx vehicle. That grey and the grey seats inside is so drab. With all the disruption and time and money spent on this project...

TTC: Automatic Train Control and Subway Platform Screen Doors

Dan, do you (or anyone else, do you) know much about the new (visual) signals for the ATC. I know the old signal aspects have been largely covered over with black plastic and I assume they'll eventually be decommissioned and removed once the change over to the new system is fully functional and...

Metrolinx: Bombardier Flexity Freedom & Alstom Citadis Spirit LRVs

Is it confirmed that the Eglinton LRT line cars will use the grey, black and white livery that is on the Metrolinx pilot vehicles? So many renderings from Metrolinx have shown the green and white livery for years but then the pilot vehicles are grey. I've recently seen somewhere renderings for...

All this shows is that downtown can pile it higher than Scarborough can spread it!

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Metrolinx talks about the penalty they'll have to pay to Crosslinx (the contractor) if the vehicles are late. Is this normal for a customer to agree to pay the contractor they hired to build the project a penalty fee if part of the project isn't supplied to the contractor on time? If I...

Metrolinx: Bombardier Flexity Freedom & Alstom Citadis Spirit LRVs

So if we are going from 76 (30m long) BBD cars to 44 (48m long) Alstom cars, it seems that trains are longer so headway will be larger. BUT, they were going to run all Eglinton trains in pairs of 2 cars (maybe going to three in the future). So then we'd have 38 (60m long, 2 car) BBD trains vs...

In other words, exactly like how it's done in the Montreal Metro.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

There will not be any pocket (storage) track east of Don Mills (unless you count the one way east which is just east of the Sloane stop.) In the EA, they called for a storage track east of Don Mills but they soon discovered (back in 2012-2013 I believe) that there wouldn't be room between the...

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Anyone have any idea when the western TBMs, Dennis and Lea, will be extracted? They are presumably still sitting under Eglinton Avenue at about Duplex. They finished months ahead of the eastern TBMs, Don and Humber, but I guess they'll be removed as part of the Eglinton LRT platform...

Crosstown LRT - Wynford Stop (Metrolinx, ?s, IBI Group)

So it appears (from the renderings) that Wynford is now going to have parallel side platforms. The last I'd heard, it was going to have far-side platforms (like Hakimi Lebovic and Golden Mile) only in this case the "street" they'd be straddling was to be the new signalized pedestrian crosswalk...

    Toronto | 1233 Queen East | ?m | 8s

A couple of quick questions Dan: When the new signalling system becomes fully operational on Line 1, YUS, will the existing signals be removed; i.e. no more green, yellow, red, amber and lunar aspects? Will the trip arms still be there? On the Crosstown, Line 5 will there be signals in the...

    TTC: New Fare Gate Installation

Does the mechanical area extend far enough north to be over the Crosstown line? I heard that the platform extension would be longer than that and as a result they would have to remove the pocket track north of Eglinton Station. Last I heard they had not decided whether to close off the south...
