Well I'll be the nay-sayer - I don't like it. The "podium" seems to be nothing more that a giant awning around the base of the towers. There is no streetwall. It's basically "towers in the park" with an awning over the park.

Toronto CityPlace: Montage + Neo (Concord Adex, 47 + 16s, KPMB)

Awesome, good to hear about the pedestrian bridge. It think this will really help connect Cityplace to the city, and provide a good connection to the waterfront. Did you see a design for it? will it be easy to ride across on a bicycle? Hopefully this will set a precedent to build more...

Bay Adelaide Centre West Tower (Brookfield, 50s, WZMH)

Heh heh...no problem! Don't want to seem nitpicky, I was looking at the photos pretty closely because it's really interesting to see things from that new angle. They provide a really interesting perspective to see what's going on, and how they are doing the construction. Thanks again for...

Nice Pics PSnake, thanks! Are you sure they were taken on the 10th though? based on construction progress they seem to be from about a week ago.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if the urbandb height info is wrong, I couldn't find any other sources to back it up. 900-1000 feet seems more reasonable for a 57 storey office tower with a pointy hat.

That will be a private amenity area on the roof of the hotel's podium.

I'm not aware of any detailed designs or renderings, the closest thing would be the site plan: As Caltrane said, I'd imagine the east tower will be similar to the west one, just a bit shorter. Personally I wish they would twin it with the west tower, or make it taller, but I guess with...

Bay Adelaide Centre West Tower (Brookfield, 50s, WZMH)

The original design was actually shorter than the current one. 679 feet vs. 715 feet currently. It did have more storeys though, 57 vs 51 currently. This is according to urbandb: http://www.urbandb.com/canada/ontario/toronto/bay_adelaide_centre_stump/

I also like the current design. I like that it's three towers instead of one, I think it will be nicer at street level with the open plaza between the east and west towers. The original design also called for eliminating Temperance street, I like that the current plan keeps it. And I also...

Yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing more of that glass! The core forms were raised again today, working on the 30th floor now.

Some photos from the Bay Adelaide Centre website. Looks like they are putting up scaffolding to rebuild the historical facade: Wide shot:

That's the Concourse building. It was built in 1928, a time when Art Deco was in style, so it's basically just part of the architecture, I don't think it represents anything specific (at least not that I know of). The builder also commissioned J.E.H. MacDonald, one of the Group of Seven...

    I think it's actually 29. Here's my count:

Yeah, that's something I've been thinking about also, the 18 York design is starting to seem a bit dated. It also seems a bit small for something so close to Union Station, that spot would be well suited to a tall, dense tower. I'm also curious with what will happen to the land directly to the...

Ha ha, now THAT's funny ;) I think this development looks good, in this area the denser the better. The skyline is spreading nicely. I do agree that a higher podium would be good though, similar to MLS. P.S. nice photo CDL!

It's starting to look pretty massive! And there's still lots more to come! Thanks for the pics!
