:) They hydrant has since been replaced with a new McAvity Brigadier, so the model wouldn’t match, but the location of the hydrant matches. I do have a concern about the utility pole, though. In our mystery photo the pole is ahead of the front of the house, with the lamp facing us, but...

Your streetview image is of the NW corner; the hydrant is/was on the SE corner. The old TWW hydrant was recently replaced with a beautiful new Clow-McAvity M67B Brigadier. It's sad to see the signature TWW hydrants disappearing, but the're pretty much at end-of-life.

Just to clarify, there's no question about the location of the second image. That 1954 image was included only to show that the hydrant at the south-east corner of Dundas & Parliament is an earlier model than that pictured in the first, earlier mystery image.

Agreed. It's overcast, but bright enough that the chimney casts a faint shadow between the dormers.

Definitely a Toronto Water Works hydrant. A later model with a bolt-on bonnet: http://www.firehydrant.org/pictures/toronto-water-works.html

The 1924 Goad has Wilton renamed as Dundas East, and shows 571 at the south-west corner of Dundas and a small lane apparently called Callan Place. No development on the west side of Callan.

Between 1885 and 1890. In 1885 the cemetery was 485. In 1890 it was 635, and 571 was a bit south of Amelia. That's usually the case. Sorry, I don't know if we're warmer or not. :)

Thanks, JT, but I don’t think that’s it. 571 St. Clarens is actually a bit north of the corner, which is occupied by 174 Wallace.

Here’s mystery that I’ve been trying to solve for some time with no luck. I think it’s time for fresh eyes. Help me, Spock! As you can see below, this photo is identified as being at Dundas & Parliament, and since the address numbers are odd, in theory that would make it the southeast...

Rob Ford:Time to Go rallies-next one Friday November 15 NPS noon.

I normally keep my dumb-assed, free-range opinions to myself, there being enough of those at play. But it turns out I’m going to have some time off work next week, and I feel I should contribute my warm body and shrill voice to the cause. However, I have to say that the “Hey Hey, Ho Hoâ€...
