Man, those old signs are so much more aesthetically pleasing. Those new signs look as cheap and flimsy as Toronto's new street furniture... at least they match.

Great tour. Portland looks like it has great urban bones... also looks as though it could use a small injection of vibrancy too. Regardless, certainly looks like it's worth a visit.

One could easily write an article entitled "How Skyscrapers Can Destroy the City". Note that the vibrant thriving neighbourhoods of New York, Paris, and Mumbai are generally skyscraper free.

Completely agree. Just another dull tower in a sea of dullness. I didn't realize those initial images were only conceptual... was looking forward to that.

There's gotta be something that can be done to add some pizzazz to the square... to really make it a destination.

Look like it's got some potential. That bannister looks nice. A little TLC and it could look like: Stylistically, it looks similar to the old Empress Hotel. So, upon restoration, it could look something like this:

That's precisely why it was an embarrassment. The tallest most visible building in Toronto... and it looked like crap.
