Ditto. They certainly could have done a much better job incorporating yet.

Glad to hear it. Looks pretty cool... on my 'to do' list now.

Great base on a great tower with great urban design. Also great to see retail coming soon. Just great.

Stash the trash: Takeout coffe cup deposit at Tim Hortons et al?

If you smoke similar quantities, pot is much worse than cigarettes... but very few smoke a pack of pot per day. Aspartame is toxic? I must have missed the headlines...

    Chinatown Street Signs

Man, those old signs are so much more aesthetically pleasing. Those new signs look as cheap and flimsy as Toronto's new street furniture... at least they match.

    Portlandia

Great tour. Portland looks like it has great urban bones... also looks as though it could use a small injection of vibrancy too. Regardless, certainly looks like it's worth a visit.

How Skyscrapers Can Save the City

One could easily write an article entitled "How Skyscrapers Can Destroy the City". Note that the vibrant thriving neighbourhoods of New York, Paris, and Mumbai are generally skyscraper free.

Completely agree. Just another dull tower in a sea of dullness. I didn't realize those initial images were only conceptual... was looking forward to that.

Mississauga Celebration Square Redevelopment (CS&P Architects) COMPLETE

There's gotta be something that can be done to add some pizzazz to the square... to really make it a destination.

Great photo, tomms. Love the Victorian Industrial aesthetic of the DD.

I would love to have more streets lined with buildings of this scale and design. Very handsome. And cudos to the developer for taking the neighbourhood context into account when designing this thing. This is how old meets new should be done.

Wow. It truly is completely gone. As if it never existed. Bring on the sheet metal and glass replacement... sigh...

Having lived in both cities, my impression is that graffiti in Montreal is much worse.

650 Bay St Boutique Hotel Redevelopment (Lanterra, ?s, ?)

Look like it's got some potential. That bannister looks nice. A little TLC and it could look like: Stylistically, it looks similar to the old Empress Hotel. So, upon restoration, it could look something like this:

    Toronto Toronto | First Canadian Place Rejuvenation | 298.08m | 72s | Brookfield | MdeAS Architects

That's precisely why it was an embarrassment. The tallest most visible building in Toronto... and it looked like crap.
