    Roads, Highways & Infrastructure

8th is open, but awkward to access. Technically there's another access to SB 14 Street from Bow Trail/Crowchild, but that one is even more awkward access.

Calgary Bike Lanes and Bike Paths

Probably won't happen until West Village development becomes a thing, but would be nice for that location to have a underpass for the pathway. Therefore there's no conflict with the trains that go by.

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Something definitely gotta get done with that blocks to make it have more prominence and activity during both the day and night. I think it would be wise to actually build an eastbound 1st Street station, and close the Centre Street station since 1st Street is a transit corridor, and is a road...

Calgary Bike Lanes and Bike Paths

For that section east of Crowchild, I would hope that section will get the cosmetic upgrade that Memorial got from 14 Street to Centre Street. Therefore the road is pushed more into the median, and the pathway section gets a bit more ROW to work with to improve the spacing, quality, and looks of...

Calgary Bike Lanes and Bike Paths

Just even getting the street lights off of the pathway itself (move them to the median of the road) would help a lot in that section. It's crap the way it is right now.

Calgary Bike Lanes and Bike Paths

Seeing that, it gives me context in how this person got hit by the train since it's narrower than I initially thought. Still shouldn't have happen and was definitely Darwinism, but revitalizes a concern with this section of the pathway system. If the costs of improving the pathways to be an all...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

As I mentioned in the 1334 -10 Ave Thread, this development cluster should kick off Sunalta's portion of the 10 Av Main Street. 14 Street from there to 17th may also give early signs of a main street vibe when these finish; especially if the Arlington project at the corner of 17 & 14 starts...

Is a clearance solution for the 10th Ave parkade is to remove the 2nd level of parking?

    General Construction Updates

It's current plan is useless, and I'd doubt we'll ever see the LRT be extended west of 85 ST unless the LRT bends north at Stoney to go over to TCH, and perhaps end around Calaway Park, or Springbank wants to have a dense mixed used district west of the city limits. A study to see if going up...

    Calgary | West Tenth 1400 | 24m | 7s | Trimount

When these projects are completed, I won't be surprised if it truly kicks off 10 Ave turning into a main street vibe for Sunalta. Mix the population boom in with the two breweries already there, and it's destined to bring more foot traffic, and more businesses. Truly feels like it's turning...

They've really nailed this project down well. The campus has a jewel right in the heart of it now.

Likely won't happen until West Village development begins, but that will be a great connection.

    Calgary Transit

I highly doubt will see a transit only crossing through Edworthy Park. That area I feel has a lot of public support to make it more of a proper park/natural reserve if anything. Plus, you can likely get the same result from an alternative - and cheaper - option. If there's going to be a rapid...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

With the MAX Purple, there is a plan to integrate it with the Green Line in someway that it doesn't use 9th Ave in Inglewood I'm assuming. Based on the recent Route Ahead update, there is a planned transitway extension from the Blackfoot Truck stop to Downtown. How that looks? I have no clue.

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Eau Claire needs a main street where a fair amount of CRU's are added to current commercial buildings along the road to get life into the area during, and outside of work hours. 3rd Ave could be that street; where there could be restaurants, bars, shops that span from 6 St SW to Chinatown. Maybe...

    Calgary | Inglewood Brewery Lands | 60m | 20s | Matco Group | FAAS Architecture

That's probably the play here. Push the density to be by the rail line and the transit station, rather than along 9th ave. Therefore you can't say that Ingelwood is not allowing for dense builds within the community, and can get more support from council when they oppose a project.

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Omni should be successful because as mentioned, NE population is increasing significantly, as well as Chestermere's. Conrich may be as well also? Either way, Omni being literally next door to Calgary's NE city limits will draw a lot of traffic from that part of town. I would LOVE to see this...

    Calgary | Unbuilt Projects

Probably for the best it didn't. But that was a really ambitious proposal.

    Statscan numbers

So is it the case that not much people within foothills work in Calgary, thus it's not included? If so, seems odd still to group in all of Rocky View, where a fair amount there doesn't work in Calgary themselves I assume.
  20. J

    Calgary Transit

Another long term plan that should possibly be considered is a streetcar on 17th Ave from Stampede station down to Westbrook station. I think there was a study on this a while back. There's the consideration of a streetcar from Westbrook to MRU, and figuring out what's the best route for that...
