    William Hawrelak Park Rehabilitation

Would be nice to change the name of the park as well. Hawrelak was removed from office twice, and is an embarrassment that his name is on the premier park of our city.

    Miscellaneous

https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/shell-partner-renewables-firm-solar-120902161.html Pretty stoked about more solar energy being generated.

    2024 opening? Wow...

Maybe, but then what area will consequently become less safe?

    Edmonton | Rogers Place | ?m | ?s | Katz Group | HOK

I'd often park my SUV above ground as well unless it is busy. Just seemed quicker than having to navigate underground. You are right that underground parking was always readily available though.

Parking. Notably readily available and easily accessible free parking.

    Federal Politics

Again, I agree Alberta should have a higher share. Those should come as others lose seats. I just don't like new seats being added to Parliament.

    Federal Politics

I enjoy that the new distribution accounts for our population. The part I don't like is this constant adding of new seats. Having more seats is such a waste of money, while providing little benefit. Seats should just be redistributed.

    Old Strathcona / Whyte Avenue

I think we can improve some areas and their walkability, but there really does seem to be a war on cars from a small subset of the community (of which I believe most don't drive a lot and live centrally). Everyone is entitled to their opinions and their vision on how to build a better city...

    Edmonton Real Estate Market

Commissions based on price need to die for most of the price range. I could imagine selling $2M houses might be more effort, but 99% of houses are price, post on MLS, then negotiate sale. Realtors take way too much rent out of the housing market.

    Edmonton | Abbey Park Residences | 22.86m | 6s | Abbey Lane Homes

Totally agree. And that park space near 104 Ave was so rarely used.

    Edmonton | Pendennis Hotel Redevelopment | ?m | 4s | LEDR | Next Architecture

So the construction on this building is complete? Just waiting for tenants to fit up the place?

    Municipal Politics

To me it seems ridiculous cancelling a project that has already been underway for at least 2 years now (if you include utility reconstruction over the past 2 years). Especially since funding has been attained from 2 other levels of government, and it's not like cancelling the project will...

    Edmonton | Herb Jamieson Centre | ?m | 2s | Hope Mission | Brian Allsopp

But how can you just build permanent housing for those who neither can afford it, or afford the maintenance costs? If you just provided permanent housing to those with no skin in the game, wouldn't the properties, on average, just be destroyed within a couple years? Honest question though...

    Edmonton | Valley Line LRT/ Valley Line West | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

There's no way this leg opens in 2021, right? Is there a chance it opens south of the river this year and north of the river next year?

    Alberta Politics

Of course there are high salaries when you're a leading institution in Canada employing phDs as employees. Do you honestly expect to hire these people for less than $100k/year? Same goes for president and vice-presidents. The is a huge institution, and you are not going to find qualified...

    Edmonton | Greenstone Park | ?m | 4s | Abbey Lane Homes | Dub Architects

It looks like this may be completed and currently being rented out. Can anybody nearby confirm?

    Edmonton | Emerald Tower | 153.61m | 45s | Regency Developments | DER + Associates

To be fair, Regency is close to completion on 121 West, while near topped out on their Holyrood Redevelopment. Not defending any of their sites, but you can't argue that they are not one of the most active developers in Edmonton.

    Federal Politics

I really hope this comes to fruition. One of the major roadblocks to purchasing a home in the NW was lack of transit. I don't endorse one political party over another, so hopefully the Liberal and NDP will match this commitment.
