    Toronto Toronto | Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

I agree its not the best colour, at least based on the pictures. Still looks like a nice station, at least. I look forward to walking through it once and then never again.

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

The other day I had to get from UofT to Ryerson but the streetcar that came by had both readers broken. I wasn't sure if that mean't I get a free ride or not, so I just walked. And it was a pretty nice walk. Guess I'll be walking from UofT to Ryerson every Monday, instead of taking the TTC...

Metrolinx: Sheppard East LRT (In Design)

The STC will become a viable spot if the local councillors put in the effort to make it so. It is not up to the TTC to do that, though the subway will act in a supporting role.

Rebranding of TTC Rocket Buses idea

Other municipalities have chosen to brand their express services differently, and except Viva which is only getting the ROW recently, they are all basically BRT Lite. It could make those bus routes more visible and increase ridership. Or, maybe it would do nothing. An interesting idea, though...

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Transit is supposed to be convenient, but rapid transit is supposed to be fast. Its a juggling act to balance them. But running an LRT service like a bus service to save on costs kinds of defeats the purpose of the whole exercise. That said, the stops are very similar to what is on the rest of...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

It wouldn't have been an orphaned line is it was expanded.

Transit expert says Toronto must recognize transportation is a business, not just a service

Absolutely. So as Steve says above, lets toll the roads and make lots of money.

Transit expert says Toronto must recognize transportation is a business, not just a service

Again, we already have highways. You're proposing building more for the sake of building more. Please explain the benefit you see in doing so. Also please explain how you plan to get residents to accept a freeway under their homes. Now, one thing I missed in my post above is that one thing...

Transit expert says Toronto must recognize transportation is a business, not just a service

It means exactly what it sounds like. If the goal is to reduce congestion - something almost everyone would agree is important, because it negatively affects everyone, building new highways will not achieve that goal. You may just be playing devils advocate, but this is shaky ground to stand...

Transit expert says Toronto must recognize transportation is a business, not just a service

I think we need to ask ourselves why we want to build certain things. On the matter of highways, are we building it to try and reduce congestion? Well, thats a fools errand, so we might as well not bother. Are we building it to increase capacity and let more people get downtown? This is perhaps...

Transit expert says Toronto must recognize transportation is a business, not just a service

Isn't it a well proven fact by now that highways will do very little to help our congestion problem? Even then, the government did just open a highway extension and a new highway, has another extension and new highway coming, and just announced a third extension. So... I'm not entirely sure...

    Mississauga Toronto | Pearson Transit Hub | ?m | ?s | GTAA

Some drawbacks/roadblocks to the above plan: -LINK is operated by the Greater Toronto Airport Authority, not the province of Ontario, so its not really up to the government (though the Airport authority might be open to the idea), and its not really the governments responsibility to run that...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Do we know how much more expensive boring is? I tried googling for an answer but came up blank, but maybe I wasn't searching for the right thing. Theres the cost of the machines, but also the fact that the stations need to be dug around 2(?) times deeper, since the tunnel itself must be deeper...

I love elevated. Trains going by in the sky, so pretty. Wish it got more affection around here.

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

Agreed. He has lots to work with. That said, he says he supports it, but he hasn't said if he would actively fight for it, like he did with the SSE. So who knows. As for "Yonge can't possibly handle a Shepard extension," you really think council gives a damn? They'll do what they want, then...

    Toronto Toronto | Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

Yeah not a fan of private corporations having naming rights to our subway stations/terminals. Not cool.

Metrolinx: Sheppard East LRT (In Design)

Subways can be great tools to drive density - would Vaughan's new "downtown" area be popular with developers and potential buyers if there was no subway connection? Maybe. But there are also cases in the city, like along Bloor, where the subway didn't bring any density, because city policy...

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

While I'd love that, why should he? He won the SSE debate, and right about now I think he feels pretty damn confident about a Shepard Extension. Sure, I hate the man's guts too, but he clearly knows how to play the game.

    Transit Fantasy Maps

Another quest Another question I have is if the SRT structures could handle heavy rail - they may have been designed with the smaller, lighter trains in mind and therefore be unable to support a heavy set of cars.
