    Hudson's Bay Company

Goes to show how much they care about men's shopping at the Bay (or any dept store for that matter). Separating it by two floors is dumb. No flow, no cohesion, no sense.

    Hudson's Bay Company

They're committing a major faux pas in retail layout design: putting a clothing department next to a food area. Splitting the men's department by two (!) floors is ridiculous. Hopefully this is temporary as mentioned above. They should've just made the entire 2nd floor a men's department (shoes...

Chipolte would go down a storm. The clientele for the Yonge/Dundas location is 50% gay (if not more). Even when visiting my friends in New York, the Chipoltes there were packed with qweens. Stag Shop and PRIAPE? Do people still shop there? Lol.

He's right about the gay flags. You don't see them flying like you used to. I don't know if gays are into buying shit-knacks and statement t-shirts like "Nobody knows I'm gay" — which is sooo 90s. Don't get me started on those ridiculous Billy dolls.

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

I totally remember the Union Jack as one of the flags primary schools would fly. I was a child in the 70s so there was the Canadian flag, the Union Jack and Elmer the Safety Elephant.

I think all the PharmaPlus stores are being revamped into "REXALL". The one in First Canadian Place and the one on Parliament have been upgraded and look fabulous. They are no longer called PharmaPlus. Personally, I think PharmaPlus is a better name than Rexall, but the stores look really good.

Notice how Newfoundland is left out! Weird to think that it didn't join confederacy until 1949

Toronto non-mall retail (Odds & Ends)

I was there on the weekend. I thought I walked into a 'concept shoppe'. Lol.

Isn't that what it was before? Oh well. Curious to see how they go for round two. Wasn't the failure of round one due lack of funds to pay rent, poor service, poor mangement, etc? There better be some quick-smart new mangement team involved — especially if they're keeping the same name.

I don't think Church St is zoned for a club? Is it? I know places like Byz and Crews get away with it but I think they have some loophole stuff going on (like it is not designated as a club; but, if people start dancing, well "hey, we can't help it!" Lol.)

A poutinerie would be fantastic! I never thought of that. (And I love how poutinerie has become a word now. And it's totally Canadian! Lol.)

The BBandB is fabulous. Big, large ceilings, accessible from the street (well, the escalator to it is). Not too excited about the Marshall's as it's just a Winners. Those shops are underground? Not accessible from the street, then. Who's going to bother going down there? Hopefully the PATH...

Reason #43345 I hate Dundas Square. Ugh.

    Toronto Eaton Centre

It looks great! The men's section (corner) is still a joke (I don't know why they bother) but apparently the women's line has more than before, getting them up to speed with the U.S. stores (I don't know; that's what I heard).

A proper lounge/café (not a pub or a bar) that is a bit edgier and trendier and not as Fly-nightclub-feeder as Byz would be nice. Yogourt is covered with the Yogurty's at Y&W and there are enough chain coffee houses. Good luck to whatever goes there, though (unless it's a luggage store, a cash...

    Hudson's Bay Company

It was tough, but that was the best I could do. Hudson's Bay Company or The Bay: it's still the same sub-par shopping experience.

    Hudson's Bay Company

I will say that the TopMan/Shop sign on Queen looks fantastic (even if TopMan is a poor, poor imitation of what it available in London and New York).

    Hudson's Bay Company

I can't speak for TOPSHOP, but TOPMAN will need to up its game as what they offer isn't at all different from H&M — except for the fact that they are more expensive. They had some nice suits at smaller sizes (hurrah!) but other than that, I'll just go to H&M and get the same stuff. In fact, H&M...

Mark's Work Wearhouse: what happened to it?

I remember Mark's in the 80's was very fashionable for teens (of which I was one). You could get Levis red-tab jeans and jackets for far cheaper than they were at The Bay or whatever. Workman Pants you would pin up along the seam. Lol. Yellow raincoats, wooly sweaters... all fashionable in the...
