    10507 to 10539–124 Street NW - Casia Developments - 2 x up to 27 - Proposed

What do we know about Casia? Not familiar with this developer

    10507 to 10539–124 Street NW - Casia Developments - 2 x up to 27 - Proposed

Again though, how do you know they are not intending to build? Maybe you know something I don’t…?

    10507 to 10539–124 Street NW - Casia Developments - 2 x up to 27 - Proposed

In terms of crime and the perception of safety, getting rid of dilapidated buildings is more important than empty lots, imo. But the argument is moot anyways.... developers will build on land they can get within a price that works with their budget, regardless of whether or not it is empty...

    10507 to 10539–124 Street NW - Casia Developments - 2 x up to 27 - Proposed

Seems a bit odd. So we should only be supporting development on empty lots?

    10507 to 10539–124 Street NW - Casia Developments - 2 x up to 27 - Proposed

What makes you think it'll be a parking lot for an extended period of time? Is there something about the developer, or are you just speculating?

    10507 to 10539–124 Street NW - Casia Developments - 2 x up to 27 - Proposed

You don't have to worry about losing these buildings, trust me. I live right by here and what's there now does not contribute much of anything to the street. The only functioning business is a daycare and people just drop off and pick up their kids through the back alley, never the front (the...

Is this different from Bajiu's normal patio?

I agree. I think they cheaped out on this reno. The finishes look terrible.

    Edmonton | Blatchford Development | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

I'm surprised to see popcorn ceilings in a new development like this....I thought that was out of fashion for buyers.

'tis a beautiful building. This better not be lost

    Commuter & Regional Rail

yes that's why you have express trains.

    Commuter & Regional Rail

I don't disagree with the doing it right, but what exactly 'right' is is debatable. One could argue that HSR from Edmonton to Calgary would work better if we have a train that doesn't fly past all the population centres in the corridor, but rather has stops along the way. You could still have...

    Commuter & Regional Rail

You really have no clue do you, lol. This train is not a low floor LRT. It operates at the speeds you mentioned and more than one unit can be coupled up. This is literally the train they proposed to use for the CABR project from YYC to Banff. And it has been operating in Europe for years. And...

Catch up with the times, would ya? Here's a contemporary version: https://www.cbc.ca/news/science/hydrogen-train-quebec-city-1.6888891
  15. D

    Commuter & Regional Rail

Yes and CABR is working with CPKC. The proposed line would be right next to their existing line to Banff, so it's possible. The main thing is to work constructively with CPKC (and CN in other parts) and incentivize them to work with the GoA/rail project proponents. The tricky part is that in...

    Edmonton | The Edward | 40m | 13s | ANU Developments | Gardner Architecture

Yeah I don't hate this at all. It will likely be surrounded by other buildings before too long anyways.

    Misc. Transportation Projects

Show me the ROI vs making people slow down for a minute.
  18. D

    Commuter & Regional Rail

lol right, 500-1000 people arriving at one time would overwhelm the public transportation system in a city of 1.2 million people. The CoE must just grind to a halt every time there is an event with over 500 people attending

    Commuter & Regional Rail

Nothing wrong with that. You build it at the speed of a car and it will be plenty popular. Doesn’t have to be hypersonic.
