    Calgary | Kensington Project 201 | 50m | 14s | Quantum Place

My guess is they will try to sell the land to a developer if they can get the land use approved, maybe retain a minority interest in the project.

    Calgary | Kensington Project 201 | 50m | 14s | Quantum Place

Terrigno family is still the landowner and “developer”, QuantumPlace is the planning consultant. There’s no concurrent DP. This is an upzone and flip I would assume.

    Calgary | Scotia Place | 36.85m | 11s | CSEC | HOK

To make air rights valuable, you need to block tall development elsewhere unless it has been allocated or has purchased air rights. I think it's counterproductive for the City to restrict development elsewhere so it can create a valuable asset by only allowing development on/near this site, so...

    Calgary | The Cunningham | 17m | 5s | Brava Developments

I can't find any info on the new developer but here's the Brava marketing brochure when they were selling the project

    Calgary | Alto | 24m | 6s | Minto | DAAS

This looks shockingly good for a lot that effectively fronts an alley on one side and the ctrain tracks on the other. I really hope Minto can pull this one off.

    Calgary | 1601 Kensington Rd | 26m | 8s | Trocan | Gravity Architecture

Land use and DP still under review so it can't be that close.

    Calgary | Scotia Place | 36.85m | 11s | CSEC | HOK

The city will allow buildings of just about any height in downtown, Victoria park, and east village if you ask nicely so the value of “air rights” has to be close to zero

    Calgary International Airport

Any guesses when we will see a month with traffic ahead of 2019 comparable?

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Look at the note below your red box - it's just to align the zoning with the as-built building. Probably will make future change-of-use applications easier as the CRUs turn over.

    Alberta Provincial Politics

Lethbridge, Banff-Kananaskis, St Albert, and Sherwood Park will also be very competitive but that’s only 5 seats. If Danielle Smith is doubling down on rural areas, I am hoping that Rachel Notley goes for some expensive political pandering in Calgary. We can be bought Rachel - Green Line...

I think they will still do 737 Max service from Toronto to Europe

Calgary's Potential 2026 Winter Olympic Bid

There are hundreds of thousands of skiers in Calgary. There are maybe hundreds of luge/skeleton/bobsledders. The bobsled track is interesting and unique but I can see why the board is spending limited resources on the facilities that actually get used by the general public.

    Calgary | University District | ?m | ?s | University of Calgary Properties Group

The only disappointment for me of U/D so far is the lack of transit integration. Yeah, a streetcar or a gondola would be cool, but more practically: - The max orange station is not well integrated with either the children's hospital nor U/D - Service on the max orange (11 min peak, 20-30 min...

Geotechnical drill on the Kensington Manor site. The "Conditionally Sold" sign is still up, so presumably this is related to satisfying the conditions of the sale.

    General Construction Updates

They are removing a gravel bar in the river for flood control: The Centre Street Gravel Bar Modifications project includes removing accumulated gravel in the Bow River located under the Centre Street bridge near eastbound Memorial Drive. Following the 2013 flood, gravel has accumulated in the...

    Water-cooler discussion thread

LG should not give assent to an blatantly unconstitutional law passed by the Legislature, 100%. This is not that. A private citizen with no seat in the Legislature, who is a candidate for political office, has floated a policy proposal. LG should not be saying anything in this circumstance.

    Water-cooler discussion thread

As much as I think both Smith and her policy proposals are horrible, very poor move on the LG’s part in my opinion. LG should absolutely not be making speculative comments about policy proposals, especially not from candidates in the midst of an election campaign. Even commenting on tabled...

    Calgary's Downtown Dilemma

I have to think the NDP platform for the next election is going to include some substantial infrastructure goodies including significant transit investments. No sense rolling them out now but once the new UCP leader is elected I would expect a steady drumbeat of funding promises between November...

    Calgary | Gallery First & Tenth | 70m | 18s | Truman I FAAS

Even with only 60/120 units occupied at 1.5 people per unit that's 90 more residents. I am genuinely confused why we see projects like Tigerstedt block and this one proposed when there are surface parking lots nearby. I think part of the dynamic is that it takes effort and skill on the part...

    Calgary's Downtown Dilemma

It's been said before but I don't see much traction developing until 4, 5, 6, and 9 avenues are made less hostile. My hope is that the residential conversions start to create the political will and imagination required.
