50 Street Widening & CP Rail Grade Separation

34th Ave should be the next priority, since it falls on the future high-speed rail corridor, it's next to a rail yard, and that intersection experiences a lot of traffic without the trains already. Then it should be 19th Avenue into South Common because when trains go by, they create traffic...

50 Street Widening & CP Rail Grade Separation

I think the old 34th Ave overpass will inevitably be reconfigured into an interchange with a rail overpass. That all comes under the jurisdiction of the province, since the TUC goes right up to the railroad tracks, so they'll do it at their own discretion, probably once that area is a little...

    Downtown Crime

News article said that it got sent back to admin for potential amendments, which would be ready by this month. So hopefully, we’ll see this come back up in council in the coming weeks and pass.

Remember class, there’s a big difference between “pretty mid” rise and pretty “mid-rise”.

I shiver imagining what these idiots would do at those rural freight train crossings that don’t even have lights or stop signs.

    Downtown Crime

The much talked-about bail reform for repeat offenders would be a good start. But more needs to be done. I don’t mind bringing back Harper-era mandatory minimums, particularly for violent crimes. And while we’re at it, we should consider treating 14+ violent offenders like adults too. Plus...

    Capital Line LRT

Considering that all the collisions still make the nightly news, I don’t think that’s the factor. Maybe it’s just the influx of people here. Ontarians certainly are notorious for their more reckless driving habits. And there are millions of newcomers in Canada (the overwhelming majority of whom...

    Capital Line LRT

The LRT worked fine for decades with the crossing gates. At some point, you just have to trust people with some basic common sense like not driving around a gate. And for those too stupid to follow a rule like that, maybe it’s just cheaper to let them feel the brunt of the consequences.

    Downtown Crime

Gonna sound like a disillusioned Gotham City police officer, but hear me out. The police can’t act because even if they made an arrest, the part of the justice system involved with prosecuting and sentencing these offenders won’t do anything. Then the cops waste more resources arresting the same...

    Anthony Henday Drive

Temporary barriers are gone on the southbound bridge. They just need to repaint the lane markings where they should be and call it a wrap.

Why are you so mad about this? The property is slated for demolition for a second tower anyway, but even if that takes a year or more to manifest, I’d rather walk past a nice mural than a building that clearly looks abandoned and has homeless people living in the nooks and crannies.

    Terwillegar Drive Expansion

I blame that all on the selfish Bulyea residents that were like “but muh access to Terwillegar Drive via 40th Ave.” Look at how much more complexity that would have added to the interchange to accommodate ramps to 40th.

    Warehouse District Park

Made a map of all the parking lots in Downtown and the surrounding core neighborhoods. https://maps.app.goo.gl/CsKY642sPT8py74f9?g_st=ic There are quite a few gravel lots that won’t be redeveloped into park space, but that makes them prime for residential development. I know some are slated...
