    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

I have a suspicion that United intended to announce Houston daily and had nothing for Chicago but quickly pivoted.

United has decided to defend their turf against Westjet at ORD. I’m betting United will win this contest.

A good point by Alexis about the feed being improved for KLM and Condor with more domestic flights happening. Myron mentioned to expect some decent terminal renovation to commence in 2026 as some of the offices currently in the North terminal area behind the check-in desks get moved into the...

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

Upgrades to Westjet check-in areas at YEG can’t come soon enough. They continue to be the dominant airline and would like to see their area improved.

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

SLC is perfect for business travel and will serve mostly as connections flying all weekdays. Will be a alternative to DEN and MSP connections. ORD won't be handling much for connections so it's just for travel between the two mainly. Would have been fantastic to see American or United step up...

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

Update. Looks like it was loaded on their website already. https://www.westjet.com/en-ca/flights/direct-flights ORD 3 weekly (Sunday, Wednesday, Saturday) June 4 - Oct 19 SLC 5 weekly (Monday - Friday) May 15 - Oct 26

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

Certainly something to keep an eye on for Monday and maybe sooner if some details happen to leak out. Looks like the even is happening in the transborder check-in area so not sure if this is a sign on a new transborder flight or just a quieter area at that time of day to host this. I would...

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

I am happy for YEG but need to understand the logic of not using a existing base.

A lot of opportunity forthcoming on the cargo side and I don't think it will be too long until we see some more commercial popping up near the outlet mall. It does feel like that is a advantage YEG has to help pay for terminal upgrades and expansion and eventually that third runway.

    Downtown

Downtown core is too big Need to make strategy that doesn't rely on gov't assistance to get people living there Positives include post secondary institutions, things for people to do (museums, performances, etc.) https://edmontonjournal.com/news/local-news/is-edmontons-downtown-too-big-edba

    Downtown

Most powerful quote by the mayor: "I've taken the us vs them politics out of the city" We have seen this so much at all levels here in Canada but city politicians could really benefit from chatting with Mayor Duggan in Detroit and exchange ideas. They have a long ways to go but that video...

EllisDon to Lead Prairie Link High-Speed Rail Partners - Edm-RD-Cal

I don’t have data on this but my opinion is you need a speed selling feature on this to make it viable. With so many who drive or take the bus and the occasional few who fly, you need to compel people to change their preferred mode to a train. Doesn’t need to be a 1 hour journey but it needs to...

    Edmonton Real Estate Market

One of those wild stats. In first half of 2024 Edmonton saw the most home sales of any market in the country https://edmontonglobal.ca/news/edmonton-leads-in-housing-metrics/

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

I find YEG arrivals roadway to almost be a bit hostile to anything that isn't a taxi or shuttle. It seems like with their messaging they are going even further trying to make people who want to be picked up by private vehicle without paying having to continue to use the lanes created on the...

    Edmonton | Riley's 108 Street Redevelopment | 20.2m | 6s | J+S Architect

I wonder why this one isn't showing on their website. I am sure it will be fine and is a good location. I think i saw some angled support columns on the corner similar to what the Parks are planning.

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

It does feel like more and more people I talk to taking the Westjet overseas flights decide to park at yyc and fly from there rather than start their trip at YEG and make the connection in yyc. Almost always the reason isn’t cost but they just want to minimize the chance of delays and missed...

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

I expected a little better for September. Seems like a lot more of the same although FBO passengers were notably up a good amount. Looks like Domestic will end the year in the negative overall. Projecting a pretty decent October but September underperformed my projections, so we will see how...

    Downtown

A frequent bus to directly to the Churchill capital/metro/valley line interchange would be a great initiative to get started now with a emphasis on trying to get the train built asap. Even if bus service started now we would be looking at minimum 8-10 years at the earliest before a train takes...

Appears priority valet will still be offered with the new departures roadway. Unsure if it will look the same or not but roadway looks pretty good from these shots.
