    Toronto/Chicago comparisons

Was it on the outskirts of town or something? Chicago's great. Not one to be missed.

Fom working in the industry for years, I can almost guarantee that the devs were like "Not crashing into other LRVs was never in the spec. You'll have to submit that req for the next sprint."

Not disagreeing about the likelihood of operational issues (and let's all hope that we're pleasantly surprised because Toronto transit really needs a good news story right now), but I don't think people here are just beginning to see the shortcomings of the ECLRT. They've been apparent since the...

    Montréal Transit Developments

Sure, but a metro line built in the 80's should never have been slated for decommissioning in the 2020s.

    No it is not.

Meanwhile... Toronto's entire blue line closes forever due to safety issues.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

The thought of Sabrina Carpenter not only riding a GO train but then also transferring to a f###ing Miway bus 🤣🤣🤣

Dundas West/ Bloor Mobility Hub +interconnected hub network (Metrolinx)

So they won't have escalators? Pretty sure the biggest use-case is people headed to/from the airport, usually with rolling luggage (and either way, that's my main use case for UPX so it's the most important one). TTC/GO Elevators are the worst because the doors close so slowly that someone is...

Metrolinx does have an exemption from the Toronto municipal government, but only from the noise-bylaw. the exemption they cite allows them to carry out construction activities 24/7 if the work falls under the vague category of "government" construction.

Everyone says this until it happens to them. I lived next to the Well's construction site for years and it seemed reasonable compared to ML's practices. The Well was almost immediately hooked up to Toronto Hydro to comply with the city's bylaw, ML's contractors just run a comical number of...

    Delusional people.

This seems like a good idea to dispel my sense that if ML were to resell unchanged, expropriated properties for a profit, that ithat would constitute a form of corruption.

Venezolana isn't too expensive and the arepas taste great! Jersey Mike's is like a step above Subway, which isn't saying much.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

In my opinion, you're right on the money. GO was crude when they started the expansion program, and years later, it's still crude. Services are nowhere near turn up and go, and even when they do achieve 30-minute all-day service on a line, there are numerous exceptions. I hope that with all the...

Reposting my question from right before the thread got derailed, in case it got lost amongst the catfight: anyone know whether the TBM launch/re-excavation site will be at Pape south or Pape north?

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Does anyone have confirmation whether the TBM excavation/re-launch site at Pape Station will be at the north or south site?

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Yes, it sounds like the floor space survey is excluding the basement from the GLA (and it is pretty tough to get a basement included, unless it has the same flooring as the main floors, legal ceiling height, additional egress, etc.) I am wondering whether ML typically calculates all of the...

Excellent idea and given how little interlining and how few stations there will be through the area from GO expansion, still sorely-needed for the west end.
