    Montréal Transit Developments

31 years and counting, I think!

Yep, just as I thought, unfortunately. That means this section of the REM will be 1.5-2.25 years late, depending on whom you ask

    What Ever Happened to SkyscraperPage?

It used to be a good source of pan-Canadian infrastructure info. Now it's a barren internet wasteland, with the bulk of its threads having nothing to do with skyscrapers. Instead it's filled with the unmoderated, racist ravings of a few forumers, in particular one by the name of Acajack. Did the...

    Montréal Transit Developments

Nice pic! Yep, as I said I'll believe it when I see it. I think that the December 1 start date is still present due to a lack of update following the accident. Even prior to that, it seemed like December would be cutting it close. It is good to see the testing recommence nevertheless. Here's a...

https://ici.radio-canada.ca/nouvelle/1926026/transport-collectif-montreal-rive-sud-train "CDPQ-Infra vise toujours la mise en service d’un premier tronçon du REM en décembre". Much to the surprise of many, myself included, the start of service for the REM (just the section between Rive-Sud and...

    Toronto Toronto | Downtown Condos at Wellington West | 36.57m | 11s | Parallax | Sweeny &Co

Why is the west-facing wall almost entirely blank, save for a few tiny frosted windows? Is that due to zoning? My friend lives in a long, corner unit in the building and even though it's south-facing, it's very gloomy without much light coming in from the west.

    Toronto Toronto | 123 Portland | 49.3m | 14s | Minto Group | Sweeny &Co

Feels like that stretch of Portland's sidewalk has been closed for decades at this point.

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

Remove the parking for good. It's fiscally-irresponsible to keep it! I found that the patios on Danforth were really nice with the bike lanes next to them.

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

Banning right on red in Toronto would constitute change.
  10. F

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

A few suburban intersections that have banned right on red has nothing to do with the transit efficiency, walkability, and pedestrian safety issues of downtown Toronto (where the King STP is). The goal of urban planning isn't to make driving as easy as possible at the expense of everyone else...

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

Really? I thought in North America only NYC and Montréal (island) still banned right on red. Which GTA suburb has banned it?

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

Toronto needs this badly. If ol' Gil had a chance of winning the mayoral election, it could've even been reality.

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

I agree. But my point is that allowing parking on streetcar routes, particularly downtown, at any time is no longer viable.

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

Do you live downtown? Rush hour is nearly perpetual here.
  15. F

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

We could. A car is not allowed to proceed into an intersection before it can clear the intersection. I know that this rule isn't followed much in Toronto, especially at intersections along Spadina, like King, Adelaide and Front, which often backs up the cross street at every light cycle.

TTC: Automatic Train Control and Subway Platform Screen Doors

Any rush hour commuters noticing an improvement on line 1 since ATC was activated?

RapidTO: Citywide Streetcar Priority (City of Toronto, TTC)

As an average pedestrian who often walks faster than the 510, I fully agree. I live near it but don't bother taking it anymore. It's also a short stretch by car standards (Bloor to QQ) so completely reasonable to ban all left turns along its length. I am always amazed how easy it is to drive in...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Always happy to have another GO station, but it's unfortunate that it's in yet another desolate parking lot.

    VIA Rail

Good idea! Will do and let the forum know if they respond with a concrete date/routes :)
