    Calgary | Kit at Kensington | 50m | 15s | Jemm Properties | LOLA

If there ever was a place where zero parking is a good fit, this is one of them. Calgary does like its parking though.

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

They were partnered up with two other groups to do EAP. So far the ones they are doing on their own - Railway lands and Westbrook have seen zero activity, over a long period of time. I get the feeling the Brewery project will sit for 25 years too. The Westbrook site is the most frustrating...

A lot of them do, but many are on those boards for self interest purposes.

    Calgary | The Barron | 43m | 11s | Strategic Group | Gibbs Gage

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I walked past it today and there wasn’t anybody to be seen.

    Calgary | Catalyst | 22.86m | 6s | Centron | NORR

Exactly. I don’t know if they chose the name Catalyst for that reason, but it is apropos.

Calgary named the most liveable city in North America

Subjective indeed, but you don’t want to be down at the bottom of these lists. Good to see Canada well represented.

    Old photos of Calgary

It wouldn’t be a problem, planting shrubs or bushes along the Deerfoot.

    Calgary | Gallery First & Tenth | 70m | 18s | Truman I FAAS

It looks great in the renders, but can’t help but wonder what the finished product will look like.

I also agree that Darwink is correct, and do understand how the tax system works, though it can be somewhat confusing. Also my point wasn’t properly explained which adds to the confusion. I guess my point is that the city could use the extra revenue from these new units to increase the budget...

Calgary | University Innovation Quarter | ?m | ?s | University of Calgary Properties Group

You’re mincing words here. Those potential 2000 units would 100% add revenue as they still have to pay into the tax system and there will be revenue from those buildings. Of course this is the same everywhere in the city but these 2000 units should in theory be much more efficient revenue...

When we charged for parking demand dropped, but people still used it. Keep the parking at the usage levels of 2009 and go back to charging. It should work out to 400-500 stalls. Combine that with a small levy from the new developments and avoid having taxpayers foot the bill.

Strictly from a money perspective it doesn't make sense, but there other advantages. Going on SP's rough diagram, the buildings built in place of the surface parking could generate as much as 2,000 residential units. The property taxes from those units should easily offset the cost of...

I would be quite happy with a half and half scenario like the one in SP's image. Construct a small parkade to keep drivers happy, but open up the other 75% of the land for development. For all the people who live less than a km away from the station, parking is irrelevant. Brentwood is one of...

    Calgary | Aria Encore | 56m | 17s | Gracorp | Zeidler

I think the design is fine for the location, it's not on the high street, and if the more more basic materials and design makes it cheaper to rent, I'm all for it.

I love the direction Bidgeland is going.

Will be nice to see the Riff finally completed.

Overall it’s a good addition to Mission. Thankfully it turned out better than the rendering.

    Calgary Transit

Agreed. Crime is more of a general issue. If we had no LRT system or LRT stations, the crime would exist, but would be somewhere else.
