Toronto Toronto | GO Transit: Davenport Diamond Grade Separation | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Today's fatal accident involving a freight train shows how important this project is for the Barrie GO line. The stalled freight train blocked the Davenport Diamond for GO trains for several hours...

    Toronto Toronto | Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

The people who have been poo-pooing Downsview Park station as a "white elephant" should take note of what happened today in the morning rush: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/go-train-barrie-line-fatal-1.5138163 A fatal collision involving a freight train at Old Weston/Davenport caused an...

Road Safety & Vision Zero Plan

That doesn't strike me as particularly rational... The only way to have less traffic is to have fewer cars.

The Galleria Mall redevelopment does not look like low density to me: http://urbantoronto.ca/news/2018/07/city-council-approves-rezoning-galleria-mall-redevelopment I think it's clear that this development merits higher order transit, and if you're going north of Bloor at all it makes sense to...

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Yes but it should go north of Bloor to catch the massive development that is planned at Dufferin and Dupont.

    Mississauga Toronto | Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Exactly! Another example: I commute from the West End to York University. Despite the much touted subway extension, the trip still takes one hour by subway. Most days I take the 41 bus on Keele instead, because it takes about the same time, but I can stay in the same seat and don't have to...

2018 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

Looking at Census data: Women represent 51.9% of Toronto's population. Portuguese ancestry is not a category under "visible minority" (who by the way make up 51.4%) I get that she counts as "ethnic" in a Canada where the descendants of British settlers dominate everything, but I thought we...

2018 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

Wow. If Bailão counts as "minority" we really have a looong way to go

2018 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

I don't know that that premise is true. There are a lot of David Ginsberg signs in both the Roncesvalles and the Bloor West areas. Of course, lawn sign counting is far from an accurate science, but I think there is a substantial feeling of discontent with Perks in the gentrified parts of the...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

No, it doesn't make more sense if GO RER is to become the backbone of rapid transit in the GTA. GO RER will be the higher-order transit that subways need to connect to.

2018 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

Surely they must have thought that they would be able to register for the 25-ward election this week, in the event that the judge had confirmed it.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

No connection to the Downsview GO station?

2018 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

So in other words, you don't really care about living in a democracy? I guess you have that in common with our Premier then.

2018 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

What about the fact that the boundary change altered their pool of potential voters AFTER they had begun campaigning? Consider the new ward 18 (South of Bloor, between Parkside Drive and Dovercourt Road). This new ward includes portions of the old wards 14, 18 and even a section of old ward 19...

    TTC surface stop spacing

Does anyone know what the TTC is doing with the stops for the 501 in Parkdale? It looks like the Sorauren Avenue stop has been removed, and when I checked the TTC website, Triller, Wilson Park, and Sorauren were all absent from the "all stops" route planner. Roncesvalles to Jameson is 750...

    2018 Ontario Provincial Election Discussion

Having a stable government is not intrinsically a good thing if that government enacts policies that are rejected by the majority of the population! Also, FPTP leads to abysmal turnout, because many voters feel that their vote doesn't matter. European countries with proportional representation...

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I think a route along Dufferin would make a lot of sense given the massive development plans at Dufferin & King, Dufferin & Bloor, and especially Dufferin & Dupont (Galleria Mall). Going to Dundas West would seem like an unnecessary duplication of the RER/Smart Track route from Bloor GO station.

Cycling: West Toronto Railpath (City of Toronto, Phase II Proposed)

This is the first time I hear about a connection to Sorauren Park. Does anyone know more about this? Is that just wishful thinking, or is there an actual plan for this?
