I have been in touch with Jimmy T. He is fine. Please don't worry - he has his own personal reasons for stepping away from UT for now. He would like to do so quietly, and hopes this request can be respected by other regulars here.

They've done it before, been found in contravention, with no penalty. Claiming a money-losing "fundraiser" outside the campaign limit, with no serious effort to raise money at the event. It was modern, according to Doug. Audit committee decided not to pursue it. Lesson learned.

The 2010 campaign audit found that they spent beyond the limit. Consequences? Some legal expenses, some bad press, then nothing. So, that's what the Fords learned. (2010 also included a "fundraiser" that did not break even.)

I've asked both the Mayor and members of the media for confirmation regarding this. So far, no word.
