Up close The Broad looks quite nice. When you step back (or up) it starts to look very boring and square. I've heard tourists mistake it for a parking garage a few times now.

The Bloc is a remodel of a terrible 1980's fortress-style mall. Ratkovich Company is doing their best to open it up to the street and make it inviting now that the neighborhood its in has been revitalized. Renders from their website http://www.theblocdowntown.com
