Actually, much nicer little park than I realized, from those last images. Nothing amazing, but nice.

Looks great, but assumes good materials.

Wish all parks were more like Berczy ... with their own flavor of course, but that type of mature and well thought out design. That said, I'll reserve final judgement until I see this in person.

I don't mind it, but the material quality will be what makes or breaks this design I imagine.

Lol ... I'm guessing you mean the CN Tower? Funny enough, I've been wondering how long it will be before they do something with the concrete. Maybe never, maybe not for a while, but I have a feeling it'll need/get some love at some point. Of course, then we'll have to hope they do a good job.

Do you mean it looks tacky in person when you are clinging to the side of the 60th story floor like spiderman? Because I've looked at in person from many angles with excellent eyesight and it looks fine. But, I've not stood on the 59th or 60th floor to examine it up close, so perhaps that is...

I acknowledge this won't be a common opinion, but I really don't think its turned out badly so far.

Not sure if anyone knows the answer to this, but is the amount of spandrel we see in Toronto normal? I know we'd all love to see better materials in all buildings, but I'm curious if this is a general global construction theme right now or if Toronto has just allowed it to happen more than...

Do the balconies and nicer exterior material used on the west wall imply that it's unlikely the corner gets developed into anything with height?

Not sure I'd agree with that sentiment. Proximity to lake. Downtown. And a hot market. Multiple unit sales in Toronto are strong as of the latest numbers. The market will eat those units up in no time imo.

This conversation got a bit ... odd.

I think the idea for the pattern was good, but the execution may fall short. It's too subtle and becomes almost invisible, unless you look for it. I'd like to have seen them use an alternative tint for the pattern sections ... a dark color perhaps, but something to add boldness to it.

I feel the same way. For the podium, I'm still not a fan by any measure, but I feel like it is better executed in person than in photos.

My main office is down there, so I spend a regular amount of time in FCP. In its current incarnation, it is something to be appreciated if you walk through it once or twice, or only consider it from a designer's perspective. But. It is not a place you want to spend any time in. It's not...

Better than expected - and better than the renders too imo. The renders were ok, but looked like anything else. The actual execution is much bolder. Nice surprise.

    Toronto Toronto | First Canadian Place Rejuvenation | 298.08m | 72s | Brookfield | MdeAS Architects

The exterior update to FCP was nice, but the interior needs to be modernized by softening it somehow. The old marble on marble on marble feel/look is very cold and sterile. Most new buildings incorporate wood and other softer materials that give them a warmer and more inviting vibe. Not sure...

I'm not saying I'm a fan ... but I'll say this as a positive about the towers, at least they are thin. Compared to the two towers attached to Loblaws to the west, which are big giant cube globs ... these feel like they will be less offensive once the area has filled in. Still cheap. Still not...

I decided to google some of his projects ... holy .. cow ... he has some truly gaudy creations. At the same time, it 'appears' like he gets some fairly prominent work. How is that? Does his stuff have appeal to a certain segment? Is he connected? I mean some of the stuff I saw on google was...
