St. James Park Revitalization (PMA Landscape Architects)

The playground looks really fun and shares elements with the new playgrounds at Grange Park and 420 Sackville (still under construction). I noticed that they've installed a metal slide, which has been hilariously controversial at Corktown Common recently. There's a better tree canopy here...

Toronto non-mall retail (Odds & Ends)

Upcountry's lease at 310 King St E has expired. I wonder what's next for this building? Amazing interior, if a bit leaky.

    St Lawrence Market

Bespoke Butchers has taken over the Sausage King stall in the St. Lawrence Market from Olliffe. I'm going to miss having a local Olliffe outpost, but these guys seem legit as well.

Spotted on the large vacant retail space on King this morning. Also, the historic artifacts have finally been installed in the display boxes in the main hall close to the BMO branch.

    Toronto Toronto | 65 King Street East | 82.9m | 18s | Carttera | WZMH

There's a large new rendering in the windows on site from a different angle with Carterra's name over it. The glazing makes it look like an unexciting blend of Bay Adelaide and RBC Waterpark Place. Sorry, I didn't get a pic. Edit: the images are on Carterra's website here...

    Toronto Toronto | Time and Space Condos | 101.8m | 29s | Pemberton | Wallman

Yeah, it's at least 3 times larger than everything else around it, with none of the charm.

How do we know they weren't families with 2 busy working mothers?

    Toronto Toronto | Time and Space Condos | 101.8m | 29s | Pemberton | Wallman

Agreed, this is one of our nicer neighbourhoods. I'm hoping this will disappear among the fabric once the (hopefully) much nicer St Lawrence Condos on the opposite corner is built. That, plus maybe the next phase of First Gulf's office project at Front & Princess will diminish this building's...

    Restaurant Comings & Goings

Greenleafs in the FCP concourse has closed after 30 years. Porchetta & Co. has opened down there as well.

It looks like those generic building mass models you'd find in preliminary development application support material.

Toronto Restaurants of the 80s and 90s

Lime Ricky's on Eglinton was the first to come to mind. I remember having a birthday lunch at the Sussex Centre location in Mississauga and ordering the enormous "Kitchen Sink" sundae. I vaguely remember a char-grilled burger place called Toby's in the FCP concourse. Funky, pre-gentrified...

PATH Network Expansion (various, various, various)

Yeah, all those pedestrians should know better than to wander around on the busy roads among the helpless vehicle traffic (???)

    Toronto Toronto | Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

I caught the train doing this both on my way to Pearson and back to Union a week later. A few notes: The trip now takes well over 30 minutes. Because of the delay, the trains are packed like 504 streetcars at rush hour. Due to the platform shuffle noted by mrxbombastic above, the train...

    The Toronto Islands

Nicholas, I would like to draw your attention to the date of that article.

    St Lawrence Market

This is good news. Crazed rush-hour drivers roar up that lane regularly nearly plowing down crowds of pedestrians on Front St. Drivers don't see them coming because of the long traffic light at Church, and they can't be bothered to slow down approaching the sidewalk.

    St Lawrence Market

I completely agree that it should remain open longer. I struggle to explain why they wouldn't want to, and am further frustrated by the fact that the hated Metro across the street has long lines during the Market's precious operating hours.
