Calgary and Alberta Green Energy Projects

I never realized there were so many solar projects around Alberta. I hope they all come to fruition, looking at the total power generation for Alberta, solar is still very low.

Nice Photoshop Surrealplaces, one could also go with black metal mesh or metal rails for balconies, and get the same affect. It's amazing how much better it looks with some simple changes.

I tend to agree with Surrealplaces, that the arena itself looks good, but the execution at ground level and around the arena is not good, and wasn't well thought out. TBH, I don't care much for the plaza and park, imo it pushes the arena even further from any kind of street life, guaranteeing it...

    General Construction Updates

The units in The Views are pricey. I bet the owners won't be happy when that vinyl wood styled siding fades and warps from the sun.

104th street is a write off from the beginning, so there was little they could do with the streetscape of arena. Olympic way and 11th ave have much better opportunities for retail and streetscape., and even if the new arena isn't a fantastic cool design, the streetscape will be better than...

100% agree. It's too bad new TOD designs couldn't just use Sunnyside as a template.

I'm not sure it is going ahead. I had heard that the Inglewood proposal was either postponed or cancelled. Has anyone else heard anything?

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

I count 27 high rise residential projects in that first photo that have been built in the last 20 years, and two more still under construction. Another 5 or so have been built, but are behind a building aren't visible in the photo. And that doesn't even include East Village or Eau Claire. They...

The best thing they ever did was allow wood structures up to 6 floors. It's been a game changer.

Bridgeland will slow down as far as larger developments go now that The Bridges phases are built out, but 1st ave will be the next place to see development.
