    Miscellaneous

Yeah, this is the correct spot. This build will be very similar to the McDonald’s one on 150st too though. Sounds like they’ll move from that one to this one once finished based on a call I did with beljan/clarity since this one’s in our community league.

Hopefully 2 more weeks of progress can be made before the winter stoppage on the guideway!

From the video: Windsor 1…2, 3 & 4?? Sounds like lots is coming. Over to you, Ian 😄

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

As this video shows, most roads aren’t even moved over to new asphalt sections yet. Let alone excavating the other sides. Roads won’t be done till 2026 Fall. The small stretch of SPR in glenora almost has both roadways finished and open. But that’s it. Everything else is a year or 2 behind...

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

I think people are forgetting only HALF the roads are even done… like all of 87ave, 156st, 104th ave. They only have HALF the road finished, then still have to finish those…which they might not be all complete before snow comes… then they need to demolish and rebuild the entire other sides of...

Yeah, this one especially sucks cause it was a good retail wall, not just empty dirt.

Talked with people last week who are high up on it. End of 2028 is the goal if things pick up next year. 2029 is most realistic, assuming no issues.

Any way to get an invite for that meeting or to hear about it afterwards? Would love to help represent the west end in case there’s not a ton of west end voices involved (my experience is that many of our advocacy groups have many more central or south central members and knowledge of the west...

ETS Bus and General Transit Improvements

I also wonder if some of our neighborhood family stage cycles are hurting transit use? This is mostly anecdotal. But when I grew up, it was all the inner henday suburbs (terwillegar, millwoods. Gariepy, etc) and those places weren’t great for transit, but you could get to Strathcona, Jasper...

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

Took the SE line on Friday after needing to get from Millwoods back to the west end without wheels. Gave me some hope again. It was wonderful. What a beautiful train. Still wish it was faster, but I loved the trip and views. So excited for the west leg to open in 2028/29. Only new criticism...

600-700k gets you detached infills in westmount, so that’s the competition I’d imagine.

Touch the Water Promenade / River Valley "Seawall"

We can’t do the same as Calgary, Chicago, Vancouver with their waterfront cause ours is different. But we could do A LOT BETTER than what we have. 0 imagination or effort. Walterdale bridge helped a bunch. But that whole central section should be highly invested in to be way more beautiful, a...

This is not personal, but crazy haha. (Jkjk, it’s of course very subjective).

Brutal colour choice. What a wasted opportunity. Even McDonald’s has distanced itself from this palate in its restaurant designs haha.

    Downtown Real Estate

I don’t think that’s really an issue. Our downtown vacancy for rentals isn’t that high. It’s the financing side with lenders and a pet door helps to make the math work for new projects to break ground. Think The Shift Towers.

Nice! Although those racks are one of the less effective designs and rarely accommodate more than 2-3 bikes. Awesome to see this though. I think our rec centres, libraries, and transit centres should all have indoor bike storage our outdoor lockers if we want to get serious about being a bike city.
