This applies to several projects, but Conservatory Group's entire landholdings are now up for sale: https://renx.ca/conservatory-group-multi-billion-dollar-toronto-portfolio-for-sale

    Toronto Toronto | The HUB | 258.46m | 59s | Oxford Properties | Rogers Stirk Harbour

Rogers is doing soil testing, potentially for redevelopment, at Mt Pleasant so may be looking for new space to replace it and may want to shift to a more central Union-adjacent location. I too suspect it will be a bank though that ultimately anchors this.

Looks like they are (finally) almost done the last podium level. Hopefully things start to move faster here now.

The patio looks good but man am I still so disappointed in that north podium block. What a complete lack of effort there.

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

The problem with induced demand is that it is real, just very frequently misconstrued. It's a far more complex topic than the "one more lane bro" type joke implies and there are trade-offs in transit vs. highway expansion.

    Toronto Toronto | 4209 Bloor Street West | 22.05m | 6s | Blooren | ps-a

The City really needs to consider permitting single-aisle garage ramps for small projects like this one with a signal system for operation. 8 parking spaces is only going to see a bi-directional conflict in traffic maybe once or twice a day, and the double-width driveway looks awful on small...

    Hamilton Toronto | Confederation GO Station | ?m | 1s | Metrolinx

Confederation is going to be battling the long travel time around Burlington Bay which will always limit ridership, especially for people coming off the QEW from the east. It takes nearly 30 minutes for the train to go around to Burlington GO - even in rush hour it is unusual for it to take that...

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

People say this but it just doesn't bear true - especially not in areas that don't have high population growth where demand predictably increases with population. I mean you can see it with the Gardiner itself. 2 years of closures and traffic remained substantially worse than immediately...

the 1,000 light posts on the platform is a bit odd to me I have to say. I'm not surprised it's a bit bare-bones, it will likely be fairly low ridership. I am annoyed they couldn't spring a few thousand bucks to make the pedestrian sidewalk areas concrete instead of asphalt though.

To be fair to the City a lot of the blame can be placed on Metrolinx who has been holding up the City on replacing Dufferin and Dowling while they try to figure out what they want an eventual western extension of the Ontario Line to look like, but there is still plenty of blame to go around.

and the station isn't even on that image. The station would have been better off as "Distillery" or "Distillery District" as it's a huge tourist driver (i.e. people who really need good wayfinding) and is actually close by and a good descriptor of what the area is referred to.

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

Yes, agreed. It's an easy fix too, they just need to get the permanent Dowling pedestrian bridge in place. But like many things with the City, the "temporary" fix is increasingly permanent.

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

no structural changes were made to the highway - and I never said they should have added a lane. There isn't really space and it would be prohibitively expensive to widen anyway, and besides, it would result in just funneling more cars into the limited downtown road network which doesn't have...

Mississauga Dixie Rd/QEW New Interchange (MTO, 1s, AECOM)

I believe the schedule has them finishing the central median and being relatively close to completion before the winter construction break so we should see some movement soon.

    Mississauga Toronto | M3 at M City | 260.29m | 77s | Rogers Real Estate | Arcadis

I think you overestimate how much modern building code is "cheaping out" over how much modern building code is far more "overkill" than in the 1970's. FCP more likely simply has far lower earthquake and wind-load safety factors than M3 does than it being built particularly "stronger". It's...

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

The traffic with the closure was far far worse than it ever was pre-construction - I’m sure it’ll get worse than it was yesterday when most people didn't even realize it was open. "induced demand" is like the standard economics supply and demand curve - increasing supply at a lower cost (less...

don't get attached to the architecture, these will sit for years before eventually getting vended to a private builder who will bring their own architect in. The intent right now is to simply secure the zoning envelope.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

It's because ONExpress's contract has already been signed and executed. It disappears off the market update after execution. The list of transit projects is shrinking because the province is in execution phases right now instead of planning - most major contracts have been awarded and the ball...
