    Toronto Toronto | Forma | 308m | 84s | Great Gulf | Gehry Partners

The Forma bashers are interesting. “The One will be a more standout tower than F Gehry’s design”!? You jest. By no means. Not in the least. On no account. Maybe wait until the tower is a quarter built at least. You don’t appreciate beautiful, shiny, crumpled, child-like chaos designed by the...

    Toronto Toronto | Pinnacle One Yonge South Block | 296m | 85s | Pinnacle | Hariri Pontarini

Maybe have specialists clean & polish up this worn drab concrete tower first. Aesthetics of the exterior matters to many. Especially if this new temp hotel idea is in operation longer than 5-10 yrs? I couldn’t take looking at that structure if left in present dreary state. Brighten that thing...

    Toronto Toronto | Sugar Wharf Condominiums (Phase 2) | 283.6m | 85s | Menkes | a—A

At least put some colour in those towers. Architects-alliance seems terribly stuck in grey. Renderings are all extremely vague & washed out. Take your cue from Rushden Station in Danforth Village. Try to stand out & look good, in prime downtown waterfront locale.

    Toronto Toronto | Pinnacle One Yonge South Block | 296m | 85s | Pinnacle | Hariri Pontarini

Who knows what the final design will look like? I’m guessing a lot less ungainly & bulky at podium lower level. But I do know that Pinnacle1 needs some complimentary, flattering, nicer co-towers to boost its super-tall aura in the city.

    Toronto Toronto | Burke Condominiums | 163.45m | 53s | Concert | Arcadis

Ugh. Let’s hope this is the last of its kind here. Basic, grey, lazy, cheaper, overly spandrel rectangular edifice. It’s not hard in 2025 finding durable cladding materials to change up the finish, colour & design. If you’re doing ho-hum rectangular- don’t go grey. IBI /Arcadis.

    Toronto Toronto | Park Road | 97.43m | 28s | Capital Developments | Diamond Schmitt

Good job Diamond Schmitt/Capital. A distinctive wedge-y, atypical design esp for this city. But mostly using flexible metal materials with a nice gold toned tint added. If only taller towers & supertalls here could do the same: Distinctive, atypical, attractive with some vivid colour.

    Toronto Toronto | Quayside Building 1C | 44.1m | 13s | Dream | Teeple Architects

They can do anything they want. I didn’t see final design anywhere, so maybe.

    Toronto Toronto | Quayside Building 1C | 44.1m | 13s | Dream | Teeple Architects

I’ve seen worse re-workings & re-designs in this city-much worse. It’s not bad. The original design (basically a lie) was so spectacular that the letdown is so bleak. Dream Unlimited … is anything but.

    Toronto Toronto | BMO Field Renovations | ?m | ?s | MLSE | Gensler

And most of the upgrades are temporary? Such civic pride & cheapness keeps shining thru. Toronto’s fave word… TEMPORARY.

    Toronto skyline

… “most impressive displays of high-rise clusters”? Globally? Not quite-but getting there. If only the eye sore ones (there are more than a few) could be erased. But in spite of itself, Toronto does boast having one of the nicest, filled in, pretty city skylines around. And with higher standards...

    Toronto Toronto | Pinnacle One Yonge | 351.85m | 106s | Pinnacle | Hariri Pontarini

Still don’t get the hype about this blue-grey, unremarkable *SkyTower. The hype is only in the height.

    Toronto Toronto | College Park Redevelopment | 333.37m | 96s | GWL | Hariri Pontarini

One of the worst skyline’s is Dubai’s. Cold, hollow & unappealing.

    Toronto Toronto | College Park Redevelopment | 333.37m | 96s | GWL | Hariri Pontarini

The CN Tower could also use a bath. A good scrub & polish up. Looking a little worn & grubby up close.

    Toronto Toronto | College Park Redevelopment | 333.37m | 96s | GWL | Hariri Pontarini

Yeah, the skyline is getting there. Top 5 most picturesque skyline in NA. But don’t go overboard there’s still massive room for more visually appealing standout “iconic” buildings. Hopefully breaking free of the monotonous colour scheme as well.

    Toronto Toronto | College Park Redevelopment | 333.37m | 96s | GWL | Hariri Pontarini

If they (HPA & GWL) want to be “unique, bold & groundbreaking” like other iconic world landmarks, at heights of 75 & 90 storeys rising above for all to see; I’d ditch the dullish beige -like facade & go with the more vibrant, stunning mauve-rose colour scheme (seen in renderings) or even a vivid...

    Toronto Toronto | Rushden Station | 138.1m | 39s | Fitzrovia | bKL Architecture

6 Dawes rd? Alright. The terrific colourful cladding on all 3 are very appealing. It’s what the downtown core needs- just continue to build these where people can actually see & appreciate them. But good job Fitzrovia & bKL arch.

    Toronto Toronto | Cherry House at Canary Landing | 50.32m | 13s | Dream | COBE Architects

Ew. I didn’t see any of that on my group walk recently.

    Toronto Toronto | Cherry House at Canary Landing | 50.32m | 13s | Dream | COBE Architects

Some don’t care for Canary Landing, (Who are you?) they think it’s too quiet & sterile. But I love it. A new pleasant serene neighborhood right next to busy gritty downtown. Growing with good looking development, open green spaces & charm.

    Toronto Toronto | 9 Shortt Street | 136.5m | 41s | CreateTO | Montgomery Sisam

The revelation kicker here is not just affordable rental units & development but highly attractive, well designed built structures.
