    132 Ave Renewal

From 2 lane traffic down to 1. On a bus route, this has traffic backed up when busses stop or people turn. Traffic is more congested while bike lanes have sparse to no users outside of central Edmonton. Emergency services have increased response times during peak hours accessing certain...

    132 Ave Renewal

It's pretty exciting to see people finally standing up to the absolute waste of bike lanes that are being pushed by yuppies. A small percentage of people without families have had undue influence and wasted hundreds of millions of dollars on bike lanes that are unused amd have crippled a...

    Edmonton | ICE District Phase 2 | 149.95m | ?s | ICE District Prop.

Fair enough, but stantec and CoE were reviewing multiple proposals, so those are easy ones to verify. It's just the credit needs to go to institutions demanding the space in those instance and not the developer. They are the ones that create the economic activity, not Ice District. That's the...

    Edmonton | ICE District Phase 2 | 149.95m | ?s | ICE District Prop.

I just mean economic activity is not necessarily economic benefits. Ice district seems alright, so I have no complaints with the product. However, if it wasn't built, city of edmonton was still building a tower somewhere else. Stantec was still building their HQ somewhere else. A hotel was...

    Neighbourhood Renewal

Other than central locations, bike lanes have largely been a failure. It's more than fair that neighborhoods outside the core are not wanting them in their neighborhood at the expense of their current transportation network.

    Old Royal Alberta Museum

Would be nice to see it torn down and housing be built in it's place. Would be prime real estate to raise some significant property taxes.
  10. J

    Neighbourhood Renewal

There's very little demand for it in the suburbs. Would have low users and wouldn't be an efficient use of public funds.

    Miscellaneous

Or maybe the convenience and freedom of driving is desired and people do not want to use public transit unless it is a last resort.

    Municipal Politics

The usage just isn't there for bike lanes to justify taking something away (lanes for cars, or parking). Other than an elitist and loud group that has too much time on their hands and has a disproportionately large influence through advocacy groups for a form of transportiation that is both...

    Municipal Politics

I feel like the people who advocate for hundreds of millions of dollars in bike lanes that are barely used, and only in the best of weather conditions are the trolls.

    Municipal Politics

Hopefully with a new council being voted in, most new funding of bike paths will be stopped, and removal of bike lanes that have low use and have taken away from parking and additional lanes for traffic. The sad part will be the the costs incurred constructing a lot of these paths that continue...

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

I personally hate these sidewalks, they look good for a couple years, then are maintained poorly and look worse than regular concrete sidewalks. I really wish city would save the money and not bother with these.

    Edmonton | Falcon Towers | 170m | 44s | Langham Developments | Arc Studio

First of all corps in Alberta are only paying approximately 23% in tax. 2nd of all, losses are not going to benefit a company more than breaking even or making money. Best case scenario is a unique situation where you book a loss based on non-cash transactions and can carry back 3 years...

Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) in Edmonton

A train up either of those main arterial roads would cause havoc on the road system. Don't think either of those would be a legitimate option.
  19. J

    LRT Safety

This is a nice sentiment in theory, and is currently being attempted. The problem is you can't help people who don't want help. It simply comes down to enforcement. As drug users and fare evaders realize they will be ticketed or arrested to a higher probability, less will go on transit...
