Toronto Toronto | St Lawrence Market North | 25.3m | 5s | City of Toronto | Rogers Stirk Harbour

The City have FINALLY issued this tender call. It is really amazing at how slow they are to issue tenders and award contracts. Based on these dates I doubt the contract will be awarded before late June so work will not be finished this year. Sigh!

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

A new TTC CEO could come “pretty soon,” according to the transit agency’s interim executive, and it may be a familiar face. Interim TTC CEO Greg Percy said he’s applying to stick around as head of Canada’s largest public transit system, and that a decision from the TTC board on his replacement...

Canadian Soccer Association to bid for 2026 World Cup

Interesting reading on the challenges in US re World Cup and Trump/Musk staff cuts! https://www.cnn.com/2025/03/06/sport/2026-world-cup-usa-travel-spt/index.html

    PM Justin Trudeau's Canada

Yes, the transfer does not need to occur on 9th and the US situation is probably one where VEREY seamless transition is needed. I would not be surprised if Trudeau stays for a couple of weeks, and then hands over to Carney who will call an immediate and as fast as possible election.

What's wrong with a freshly painted crane? (With LED lighting, we are told.)

It seems that most of these pathetic Aura stores were bought by real people and I must say feel VERY sorry for them - though it does demonstrate that buyers need to do research! Currently there are SIX units at Aura available on realtor.ca. One at only $80K.

    Mayor Olivia Chow's Toronto

They would obviously organise a public consultation process and then, after a year, plan things as they originally proposed but it would be held up in Council because one of the consultation days coincided with a TTC disruption (an excuse that can be used most days!) and then at Council the...

In Montreal when towing for snow clearing, they simply tow cars to a nearby street. Of course, Toronto would make it all so complicated it could never be done!
  10. DSCToronto

    Mayor Olivia Chow's Toronto

Yes, but there appeared to be no tickets and certainly no towing.

    Mayor Olivia Chow's Toronto

Yes, they had snow blowers on my street in St Lawrence yesterday too but, compared to Montreal, it was all very amateurish. No tow trucks to move parked cars, no real effort to clear boulevards, trucks not coming one after the other with no breaks etc etc.

    Mayor Olivia Chow's Toronto

Not an excuse but the weather this winter has certainly created FAR more potholes than those of last few years. In addition, pothole fixing City staff have been busy (well, not very busy!) shoveling snow.

    Toronto Toronto | The Well | 174.03m | 46s | RioCan | Hariri Pontarini

I do not think you can fairly compare the shops @ Aura with those @ The Well (or the two 'malls'). Aura has the advantage that it could have had lots of passing traffic IF the architect/developer had actually thought about how it was (and could be) linked to other adjacent underground areas and...

    Toronto Toronto | The Well | 174.03m | 46s | RioCan | Hariri Pontarini

You can rate the Well in any way you want but from a commercial perspective the stores and restaurants need customers. If they attract customers all year they will do well, if not they won't. Once one has seen the (interesting) architecture one does not need to go there 'for the Well' and, if...

President Donald Trump's United States of America

I certainly wonder why we or any country would have ANY faith in the US as signed treaties are clearly worthless. NAFTA is clearly being breached by the much-hyped tariffs and if NATO was ever a partnership that is clearly no longer the case.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Dan: I am certainly not complaining about the TTC putting up stickers for the new lines - which will probably be in operation sometime later in 2025 - BUT I certainly AM complaining about their inability to put stickers on the stops for lines that are running NOW. There are 501 stickers on...
