How tall is First Canadian Place?

Right. The difference in height at ~6m makes total sense to me. I no longer have the drawings, so unfortunately cannot confirm.

How tall is First Canadian Place?

Not significantly. The inside corner parapets are slightly lower than the straight wall, by approx a foot. I believe everything was at one elevation prior. I've been trying to find some information on the overall height, but having no luck. The mech penthouse roof being approx 6m taller than...

Why does Toronto pick such horrible names for public spaces, stations, airports etc.?

The Sankofa is not a "people", it is an African word and symbol of the Akan people that simply means to go back and get. You are thinking of the Akan people from Ghana, who yes, did have ties to the slave trade.

CCB is more complicated than just a clawback threshold. It claws back in a sliding scale by income, yes, but also increases based on the amount of kids and varies based on their age bracket. For example of family with a $150k income and one kid between 0-5 still receives a payment of $218 per...

I don't remember that, but even still that is back pre-2020 in a completely different market.

Why are we talking about a mythical casino here? Because Wynn proposed one in NYC? To sell mythical condos that aren't selling right now?

Correct. The corner is one piece not split so must be field installed. To pre-install it would require the corner curtain-wall to be a pre assembled corner frame, which would be incredibly heavy and unwieldy.

That is true, but keep in mind that none of the upper floors (i.e. L4 up) have been assembled and are ready to ship to site. That is a major potential risk to Summer 2026.

We shall see. I would be surprised if the envelope is wrapped up by the end of 2025, but that is just my opinion. The ground has been going on for 6 weeks, I think. The floor plate for this is very large. It will likely take multiple weeks to complete each level, and there are 16 stories. That...

Good luck. This install will take at least a year.

Right now they are looking at a 19 point deficit. They are projecting 210+ seats for the conservatives and <60 for the Liberals. If those polls are accurate, it would be a miracle for them to form a government.

Now that would be quite the turnaround. I find it hard to believe the Liberals can recover by October, but anything is certainly possible.

It's complete nonsense. Just look all around the city at all the other European immigrant clubs and associations. Italians, Portuguese, Polish, Greek, Maltese, etc. They all sought each other out. Immigrant groups have been doing this for quite literally thousands of years. For the Brits, it's...

If you did this, the very first thing you would see happen is stock buybacks. You would not see these corporations invest in wages or productivity enhancements. And why should they, you just gave them a free lunch. So why should we give a fuck about enhancing shareholder wealth? This is exactly...

Why do we all of a sudden care about the national debt? Do the people complaining actually have a reason, or are they just imagining their kitchen table budgeting has any resemblance to national economics? Here is a good read...

    Hamilton International Airport

I always look at Hamilton as an option, but I find it is often not cheaper than YYZ, or there is some other issue (i.e. too many connections) that discourages me from booking there. I guess the lack of options there right now is part of that problem.

Both vision and spandrel configurations exist for the glass block. The most likely replacement parts are obviously infill components, which are universal more or less. For the rest, not sure. If they need to, whoever is doing the job can cut new dies for the old stuff. Whomever came on board is...

The glass block absolutely could fail at intermediate points. They are not one giant IGU, but a bunch of smaller glass blocks preassembled into one larger unit. So the quality control for assembly into one unit at the offshore unit fabricator itself must be much higher. That being said, the...
