There definitely ARE convenience stores at Union already. It's a grocery-like store we're talking about.

Lol gotta give time for the trees to grow back

Noticed these concrete things going up lately. These are north of Central Pkwy and south of Elm.

Actually now that you mention it, it's shocking there isn't a Shoppers in Union Station. They're everywhere else.

    Cruise Ship Terminal

OK cool I had no idea Hapag-Lloyd even did cruises, never mind ones that came to Toronto. Pretty interesting! https://www.hl-cruises.com/ships/hanseatic-nature-hanseatic-inspiration-hanseatic-spirit The Hanseatic Inspiration is the cruise ship that serves Toronto. Very cool :)

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

Yeah I can't comprehend those who say the speed of transit doesn't matter. Anything we can do to improve speeds should be considered. I'm not saying all stops should be removed, for instance, but they really need to rationalize the number of bus/streetcar stops, as well as do whatever they have...

Toronto Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport | ?m | ?s | Ports Toronto | Arup

Definitely not a cute look for the island residents to fight improvements.

    Cruise Ship Terminal

Yeah as much as I love cities with actual cruise ships, Toronto does not get those. Is it even possible for those huge cruise ships to come down the St Lawrence this far? I'm guessing no.

Toronto Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport | ?m | ?s | Ports Toronto | Arup

I don't mind kicking out the island residents. But for me, the issue with the island is the lack of services. There should be more and better restaurants, better ferry facilities. Let the island residents' leases expire and don't renew them. I'm not sure about the airport, but we can do a lot...

    New rides at Wonderland

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xtreme_Skyflyer The Wikipedia article for the ride also shows that it is being replaced by AlpenFury. https://toronto.citynews.ca/2024/03/20/canadas-wonderland-xtreme-skyflyer-retired-26-years-vaughan/...

    Loblaws

Not sure if's worth mentioning here, but the former Wholesale Club at Central Parkway & Confederation (near MCC) is being rebranded to No Frills. Here's the thread where I read about it on Reddit

    Toronto's Culture Production Boom

I think I saw Enemy either at TIFF or maybe at the Varsity theatre. I don't recall being overly impressed but I enjoyed seeing Toronto (and Mississauga) on the big screen.

    New rides at Wonderland

They did though. They removed Xtreme Sky Flyer for it.

    TTC: Major Operational Issues (Various)

I actually didn't mind either of the campaigns. Sometimes people need to be shamed to do the right thing. And shaming isn't even as effective as it once was.

News on retail chains (was: New Mall Retail)

Wdym? I just checked both the Square One website and Uniqlo website and that location is listed on both.

TBH there's plenty of Presto machines at the stairs to the platforms and all over. I don't think that is a problem. You don't need to wait to the last minute to tap on.

Literally every single one of those pillars should have departure boards on them.

    Toronto Toronto | U of T: FitzGerald Building Conversion | 4.89m | 1s | U of T | RDHA

Now that you mentioned those 2 different doors I can't unsee it. They should have been the same size.
  19. Dan416

    Toronto Toronto | Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

The reason that people congregate at the departure boards is to see what platform their train is at. Someone coming from the subway won't be sticking around the subway station entrance when they see what platform they're at, and if they don't see their platform, they'll continue walking to where...
