    Gay Toronto in the 1970s

Ahhhh….The Quest. Fond memories. There was Charlie’s (upstairs disco above the St. Charles, Crispin’s restaurant (Buddies downstairs), Tanks, Manatee (I came out there), Katrina’s. Went to Lipstick on Parliament with lesbian friends. Don’t forget the leather/biker bar on Eastern….seemed so...

I believe Bert and Ernie’s/Rockpile was near Cloverdale Mall. I attended a function held in the gold glass building. It was a restaurant/bar/event space called “Tramps”. I lived just down on Michael Power when they tore the building down.

    Quick Question re: High-Rise Nodes

Toronto, and the GTA for that matter, has a large number of high rise “nodes” throughout. I’m curious if members know if this is unique to our urban area, or if they know of a similar occurrence in any other North American cities. Where does Toronto or GTA stand in comparison?

Wow….just beautiful. They look like giant silver birch tree trunks lit up at night. How Canadian is that 🙂😊

And “SHE” be the reason younger men/and women….can fall for a grand older “Lady”! substance, style, class, elegance…plus “she’ll” teach you a thing or two 😊😂

At this rate…I suspect “condo street art” is headed toward large easels mounted on the sidewalks with a black velvet oil painting that glows at night under black lighting…or God forbid….a “paint by numbers” version of some historical time in the city. After that…it’s a slippery slope to a 5...

Thanks for the info Interchange. I wasn’t aware of that. 🙂

I’ve quoted Prince Charles “a carbuncle on the face of an old friend” in the Dominion Bldg on Front thread. These buildings deserve more than that as well. What’s next???…..a green glass pencil tower sprouting from the top of the Royal York Hotel or perhaps a shiny glass addition on top of...

There used to be a GoodLife Fitness in there. Did they move somewhere else nearby?

Thank you for that Ottawan. I always wondered as I’d never heard it spoken aloud. Retired teacher, but always a grateful lifelong learner lol.

On my walk today, I saw a sign in front of Sick Kids saying it was going to be the future Peter Gilman tower. Are they tearing down the old Sick Kids facade?

10-14 McCaul St (Malabar Limited building, potential redevelopment)

I went downtown for the first time today in two years. Had an appt at Toronto General, but got off the subway at St. George and walked across Bloor (was overwhelmed by the scope of Eataly!) and went down Yonge to Dundas and across (with a diversion to City Hall…there was a wonderful First...

Does anyone know if they will save that amazing canopy for either the new building or somewhere else…..I always thought it had such a Parisienne look about. Would be a shame not to have it part of our downtown.

Thank you for bringing that back to refresh my memory, Northern Light! It was truly beautiful.

Bit small…perhaps it’s just a baby. How about calling her “Lessie”? 😉

Hi Interchange…yes I will sadly. I’m on Crown Hill so there’s a steep incline…I’m hoping I’ll still see the tops of the tallest in the the CBD, but who knows. on the up side though….my view north and south of there will have lots of new beasts to fill in what doesn’t get blocked. I also have...

Hi Interchange….I know we are practically neighbours as our paths crossed at the community meeting for this project…lol, and we both asked questions that we recognized as being UT’ers. I thought I’d share my view of the site as best I can see it.
