I do live at Casa. Thankfully, the windows keep most of the noise out, although during the demolition things were pretty unpleasant- at times my whole apartment would shake. More recently things have been better, although it helps that I am an engineer and find all of this fascinating!

Thanks! Glad to know the pictures are appreciated. FYI, the work should be finished today. Yesterday's lift was cancelled due to the high wind.

They didn't get much accomplished today- not sure if the wind was an issue or it was something else (you can see all of the crane parts around the site, and they seemed to be struggling to get the lower section attached). Presumably there will be more progress tomorrow. Even so, with the short...

Charles St E will be closed in front of the site this Saturday. Not sure if this means a crane is coming- some concrete was poured yesterday, and rebar is being installed today. Could just be the removal of the Aquatech excavator that seems to be getting in the way, though. I'm also not sure...

Looks like the hand demolition is complete- a long reach excavator is now on site (and barely visible from my photo)

Photo taken yesterday. Today, several loads of rebar are being lowered into the site.

Looks like they are a few inches away from bottom (as indicated by the spray painted numbers on the ground). The crane two weekends ago lifted out the drill rig and bulldozer, and dropped in an excavator for Aquatech that has yet to see any use.

My bad- I was under the impression that the shoring consisted of both the cassion wall and the tiebacks. Today:

Charles Street E will be closed on Saturday to make room for a crane. Not exactly sure what they are lifting... there is still quite a bit of earth in the pit and shoring is not yet complete.

Also not looking forward to them removing the facade by jackhammer!

Taken today. They have definitely reached bottom.

I ma back in Toronto for the winter, so I'll be able to update more often. Here is a shot of a dump truck being pushed out of the pit after it rained this morning...

Anchor has begun to move on site- a drill rig was delivered (at 5:30) this morning. It is a smaller rig than what was used at the 1 Bloor site- perhaps the garage won't be quite as deep.

I guess this is where I come in! The demolition crew (PDI) has finished tearing down the old structure and removing the exterior foundation walls, filling the perimeter with concrete. They are packing up the site today and I expect them to be gone by the end of the week. A few pictures from the...
