    Restaurant Comings & Goings

I'm not sure, I like it - there's so many external sites keeping up with all of them is a pain. Maybe as suggested just add some context when sharing the link. Sure but so many of the posts here are along the lines of "____ has opened/closed" so not sure why the posted link is overly different.

    Toronto Toronto | CIBC SQUARE | 241.39m | 50s | Hines | WilkinsonEyre

If this helps frame things in a different light: maybe you're the most careful and diligent person out there and truly pose no risk to yourself. But what about others who see the photos, read the praise, and feel enticed to do the same thing without having your skills, ultimately getting...

    Toronto Toronto | Evergreen Brick Works | ?m | ?s | Evergreen | DTAH

Does anyone know if the brickworks managed to recover after the massive flood last summer? I visited the site shortly afterward, and the damage was extensive. I hope they've been able to make repairs.

    Mayor Olivia Chow's Toronto

Is that true? I haven’t been to the area in a while, but I thought the number of encampments at Allan Gardens was increasing again after having been significantly reduced. I also hadn’t heard about any changes at Clarence Square. Alright, let me answer my own question. 😊 There’s quite a bit of...

    Mayor Olivia Chow's Toronto

Any thoughts on how Ford's policies toward unhoused encampments on public grounds will play out in Toronto ? Of course it was an offer and I've only seen a few cities take him up on it, really the legality around evictions. While not directly related in anyway there's also the new shelters...

Err, I have a bad feeling I know what will happen with that sheltered space

    Toronto Toronto | Concord Canada House | 231.97m | 74s | Concord Adex | Arcadis

How about, it ought to have been a "signature" towner given it was the final one they're building ... :) ...

    Toronto Toronto | Sugar Wharf Condominiums (Phase 2) | 283.6m | 85s | Menkes | a—A

But why have an interim park at all - were the developer parkland funds directed elsewhere ? I just don't understand why they wouldn't have built the park in it's final form - so it's the city that needs to build it down the road implying we're likely talking about decades ?

    Toronto Toronto | Sugar Wharf Condominiums (Phase 2) | 283.6m | 85s | Menkes | a—A

I'm not sure why but at this point this park seems embarrassingly simple ... I'm expecting asphalt paving ...

    Toronto Toronto | Rogers Centre Renovations | ?m | ?s | Toronto Blue Jays | Populous

I don't really understand this, what's unworkable about it ? Assume you can relocate temporarily for a few years ... or is the argument that if you do demolish the stadium there will be so much pressure to build condos/offices given the return possible ?

Toronto non-mall retail (Odds & Ends)

But by a "shadow of its former self what" exactly what former self are you referring too ? The recent hay day (purely from a high rent, high demand, very high occupancy) maybe say 5-10 years ago was curtsey of said trendy stores (many larger chains) and restaurants ... go back 10+ years earlier...

North York City Centre (Yonge & Sheppard)

@sunnyraytoronto Thanks for the background ! Makes sense. I'm honestly glad though - I'd rather have a bunch of smaller form retail outlets - hopefully not all bubble tea shops but hey a few ... that's fine :) ... there's still more restaurant variety in the area than there was a few years...

    Toronto Toronto | 135 St Clair West | 161.3m | 49s | Fitzrovia | Hariri Pontarini

I've always loved this building :( It'll be sad but I bet the city will approve this. Where is the ministry of environment moving ?

North York City Centre (Yonge & Sheppard)

@sunnyraytoronto wouldn't the pearl place have been a good pick ? I think initially the retail was configured for a larger format store ... I'm actually pretty happy that's not happening and instead there will be a bunch of smaller retailers. But probably a lost opportunity on their part.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Good point :) But I meant more pointedly does the City of Toronto need to pay it self ? I don't see how that can be mandated ? If the province has to provide the city funds city can they leverage this - resurface roads/side-walks inflate the cost hugely so either they drop it or worst case if...

    Simple question, who pays ?

    Toronto Toronto | 4696 Yonge Street | 131.3m | 40s | Skale | Turner Fleischer

Vacancy rates when compared to the rest of the GTA have always been fairly low on average in the NYCC zone - I think the main reason you don't see any new offices built - which you are absolutely correct on - is more a commentary on the cost to build vs potential rental rates not being viable or...

    Toronto Toronto | 4696 Yonge Street | 131.3m | 40s | Skale | Turner Fleischer

It's really short cited to assume the office market's permanent death ... these sites will never be redeveloped if they go residential today (maybe if they're rentals) - so while it may seem like a silly hill to die on - I don't think we should just completely abandon the requirements on...

    St Lawrence Market

But here's the issue - it really hurts certain areas of the downtown core disportionately, I know many people who live downtown and love it but hate this element, they avoid these parks with a high amount of encampments and now consider moving to other parts of the city, which makes the parks...
