    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Who's the consortium? Mosaic? Do they own the trains? I thought Metrolinx owned the trains? In regards to Line 6, can someone give a brief break down of what the responsibilities are for each party? This seems to be the cause of so much confusion.

How would the Feds deal with CPKC who owns those tracks? Agree to help CPKC construct a freight bypass?

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Well, here it is. Same guy who outran the streetcars, manages to outrun the Finch West LRT by 18 minutes.

    Toronto Toronto | Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Line 5 IS complex and expensive! Unecessarily so. That's the big issue with it. I would even wager that the Ontario line will be less complex than Line 5.

    Toronto Toronto | Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

The point is these LRTs are slow without slow zones. If the TTC did a better job of maintaining the tracks the subways would be faster on a regular basis. But the LRTs will always remain slow.

Realistically, how many minutes can we shave off of a single, full length trip by just giving trains the green light before left turns? 3-4 minutes at the most?

IIRC Osaka's HSR train station is located outside the downtown core in a suburb. But the station offers great transit connections to downtown.

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

With all due respect, but I feel as though this is the wrong mentality to have towards this type of project. Why would we be discussing current travelling trends between Ottawa and Quebec City? Would a direct HSR connection between the two cities not change current travelling patterns?

    Toronto Toronto | Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

It's quite damning that people are now suggesting it'll be faster to get to Mt. Dennis from Scarborough by riding line 2 to Dundas West and then take the UP from Bloor GO. Probably even quicker once the tunnel connecting Dundas W. with Bloor GO is complete.

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

If they are going to go down this route, will they design the junction in Laval to allow some trains to bypass Montréal towards Quebec City? I know with HS2 in England, even though the northern leg has been cancelled, they're still constructing the junction just outside Birmingham to allow for...

    Toronto Toronto | Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

It's about doing the absolute bare minimum.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Apparently people have started complaining that the tunnel or pathway connecting line 1 to Line 6 at Finch West smells awful. Some folks have suggested that Metrolinx cheaped out on the plumbing in the nearby bathrooms at the Line 6 Finch West station. It's incredible how these projects have...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

I noticed this as well while riding the Line from Humber College to Finch West. People just completely ignoring the Presto Machines. So basically we should expect the same slow speeds on Line 5. Including in the underground portion. All in an effort to keep costs low. In order to speed up the...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Because the politicians and planners who attend the ribbon cutting ceremonies for these projects hold the very people, who will rely on these projects, in contempt. They just want your vote. Both left & right. The fact that no effort was made to replicate "best practices" from other LRT systems...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Are the elevated portions of Line 3 & 5 really elevated tracks? Or are they just bridges? All the elevated portions of these lines are going over rivers. It makes more sense to bridge over a river than to tunnel under it. I'm assuming that the Thorncliffe station and tracks are elevated because...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I acknowledged that the 413 bypass was specific to the Milton line and not for the Midtown line. But the 413 bypass could be the first phase in an all encompassing Toronto bypass for CPKC. Particularly if the Ontario government plans to extend the 413 eastwards pass the 400. Hypothetically...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

You really believe CN would relegate themselves to a single track between Georgetown and Bramalea? Last I check, nothing was signed off on this track sharing agreement. It was just an "understanding" between CN and the Ontario government. So I wouldn't rule out the freight bypass yet.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Hence why I've proposed (in the Missing Link thread) two separate freight bypasses. 407 freight bypass for CN (Kitchener Line) 413 freight bypass for CPKC (Milton Line)
  19. B

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

What he's saying is, there are no lights for Line 6 & 5 on those maps.
  20. B

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

So sick and tired of the TTC's "nanny" like behaviour towards it's riders and the people of Toronto. I even heard Jamal Myers mention during his recent press conference that "Vision Zero" was being applied to streetcars and LRTs. Really??? Meanwhile in Manchester the TfGM actually treats people...
