It could be a small transfer beam of some sort, just a guess though.

I kind of doubt it, a cooling tower is something that you really dont want to move twice. It also looks like there are pipes hooked up to it already (unfotunetly).

It looks like they were setting some roof top A/C units on that smaller red brick building beside BA.

It looks to me that the brick ties were never installed on the new interior stud wall to the old cladding.Or perhaps a structural lintel beam was also taken out.(just speculating on that one)
