Great shots, but I had to do a double take on that first one. I don't know if it's the gloom or the samey townhouse blocks but that could easily be mistaken for the USSR circa 1980.

There is the Loblaws at Broadview and Danforth that is about a 2 minute drive or 15 minute walk. Granted it's not the nicest Loblaws in the world but I'd hardly say the area is a food desert with 5 grocers in the immediate area.

I love how in renderworld this building is situated next to a pristine meadow. I'm sure there are some deer frolicking just out of frame. Anyway, probably a wise move to go rental here, north facing units would be a damn hard sell.

Sans Christmas ornaments, this lobby would look like something out of Gattaca.

Boutique hotel could still be interesting. Preservation of the existing buildings in some form would be a boon to a hotel looking to distinguish itself.

This was my local plaza when I lived in Toronto. I'm actually glad the strip mall is being retained as I found it weirdly charming with its outdoor colonnades and small retail units. The current parking lot is terribly configured and rarely full. However as mentioned above you can bet the locals...

Interesting design. Those cute little houses on Draper Street are going to be entombed between this and the Well though. Wonder how much sun that street will get in 10 years.

Not disagreeing that an observation deck on The One would be striking but just as an anecdote I visited that place a few years ago when it was Panorama Lounge, it has exterior patios with north and south views and we stayed for about 4 or 5 hours. Maybe that's not the case now if it is a full on...

That's more like it. A continuous street presence with a mid-block break for internal access, even if it's poorly executed, is immensely preferable to having a windswept parking lot facing the street.
