    Calgary | Sovereign | 40.54m | 14s | Avi Urban | GEC

With empty lots all with proposals in action, 17th ave is hot indeed.

    JEMM 16th Ave | 100m | 30s | Jemm Properties

Looks okay enough. I was kind of hoping for the towers, but the street level portion of this is no different than the other design, so in the end, not much of difference really.

    Infill Development Discussion

Something u/c along 20th ave nw at around 12th street.

    Calgary | Riverview West 4th Avenue | 78.5m | 24s | Trico Homes | S2

Well that’s disappointing. I loved the original design, but given how things have gone for the EV area I’m happy something’s at least getting built.

    They aren’t wasting any time!

    Calgary Skylines

Toronto because there are 1 million different skyline shots from 1 million angles, and Ottawa, because they’re still trying to convince people they have a actual skyline.

    Calgary | Yellowstone | 67.36m | 20s | Amble Ventures | NORR

It would be nice to see another high-rise. We’re kinda hitting a dry spell.

    Bang on.

    Alberta Provincial Politics

To the surprise of nobody, Nenshi wins, but what surprised me was the margin of victory with 86% of the vote in the first run. Clearly a lot of NDPers who are also pragmatists. Nenshi might not fit the typical NDP mold, but he gives them a chance to win.

Who will be Alberta's largest metro in a decade?

Never say never ;-) 100 years from now, who knows, but Edmonton won't pass Calgary this decade for sure and most likely not in my lifetime. There's too big of a spread and too much momentum for Calgary. As far as the population to the south - Foothills/Okotoks/High River/Diamond Valley, they...

Who will be Alberta's largest metro in a decade?

The area shown in Surreal's example would easily fetch $5-7 Million. You could take out only 50% of all interest generated and still get well over 100K each year. Teachers salaries should be part of the regular budget, no different than it is today, but the endowment money could go to smaller...

    Calgary | BMO Centre Expansion | 25m | 5s | CMLC

They used to do a good and beer show at the old BMO, I don’t know if they still run up but if they do, it’ll be way nicer in this facility.

    Water main break discussion

He might not have a meter but he’s not on the previous low cost flat rate anymore, and would likely save money by going to a meter. The city pushed for me to get a meter, and I resisted, but found if I didn’t change, they were going to charge me a flat rate that was about double my old flat...

    Calgary | Autumn | 22m | 6s | Homes by Avi | LEMAYMICHAUD

Nothing as far as development permits have been submitted, but the overall plan is to have mixed use residential on that parcel. The parcels that peak might interest are the ones immediately north of Argyle and autumn, where the old family student housing was. I hope they build something...

    Calgary Transit

I would really like to see today’s numbers. With the Ctrain system increasing ridership by 60% since that time some things have changed. Anecdotally there’s no question the system has changed from a commuter system to more of a general rail system in the past 20 years.

    Calgary | The Hive | 27m | 9s | Jemm Properties | LOLA

I'm pleasantly surprised with this one.
