It seems that Nissan at 508 king east is packing up and moving to 165 front St. East. Nissan Sign has been removed and notice of moving is in the window. Although not the worst example of a car dealership it would be nice to see that space leased and transformed into something more useful to the...
Quite a bit of retail activity in the last few weeks in Corktown on King East. Some empty store fronts filling up with Wine Rack and Odin Hus at the 510 King east condo building and A new dessert shop at King & Power called Roselle.
Quite a bit of work being done inside at King & St...
Agreed, When travelling west, one can bypass the lights altogether by continuing on eastern and left on St. Lawrence to King. Soon, Eastern will connect direct with Bayview by way of the WDL and hopefully absorb quite a bit of the rush hour traffic.
There appears to be a new coffee shop opening at king/ trinity on the north side of king called "tandem coffee". Also quite a bit of activity on the interior of one of the retail units at 569 king st. in the corktown district condo as well as the interior of the former lung association building...
Discount hotels are a benefit to the city and there will always be a need for them. On the other side of things, A web savvy traveler coming up from the US may think they've found themselves a bargain with a centrally located hotel in big, clean, safe Toronto only to find themselves at Ontario...
I just read today that they will open in December at the edge lofts loaction at 625 queen east. The Pub that moved in to their former location opened on thursday.
Every time I walk by I can't help but to think that this building looks more commercial than residential. It is a great addition to that section of front/ eastern aesthetically but am not convinced that units that occupy the curved south portion with no balconies and lack of floor to ceiling...
Looks like Captain John's has been shut down for good. Tourist trap's like this are terrible for a city and leave a nasty impression on naive patrons.

I was told by the sales person a the showroom that there is only one retail unit which will occupy the space on the north west corner of the building that fronts king & river. The TCHC building at 589 will indeed have retail as well.
My sentiments exactly Bloorcallcontrol. I think the initial reaction to the sight of a car dealership is a bit dissapointing but both this proposed Nissan and the existing Infiniti locations are really just showrooms. There are no service bays, used car lots etc. The Infiniti has just a few...
The retail unit is listed at 5294 sq. ft. and yes, a cafe or small bistro would add interest and activity to that block. Hopefully news will come soon.
Lame indeed, but I can only imagine that with the occupation of corktown district phase 2, river city, the king east and the TCHC building at 589 we will start to see businesses that serve the community better on a day to day basis.
I was told by the salesperson in the showroom(they will tell you anything), that the 1 retail unit was designated for a restaurant owned by the developer.
