Toronto Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport | ?m | ?s | Ports Toronto | Arup

Because it's a new year, one of those things I've always wondered about but never really raised anywhere. I do land at Billy Bishop from time to time, and taking the Bathurst car north is always convenient -- except that the slight hike between the airport and the closest Bathurst streetcar stop...

    Richmond Hill Toronto | Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Fair but, in truth, the idea I'm floating is a bit different: two lines. One is the Ontario Line whose northern terminus is at Eglinton. The other is the RH line whose southern terminus would now be at Eglinton. You'd need good physical integration for those continuing on in either direction...

    Richmond Hill Toronto | Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I'm not on here very much any more and this may have been beaten to death, but in case it hasn't been -- Rather than an alternative to the Line 1 extension, wouldn't the RH line be better renovated as (a) the northern half of the Ontario line, with a smooth interchange at Eglinton, provided (b)...

    Toronto Toronto | 1 Sumach | 120m | 35s | Block | gh3

Nestle the cubes atop the lower tower as a penthouse suite. 😆

    Toronto Toronto | KESKUS Estonian Cultural Centre | 17.07m | 3s | Kongats

How cool would it be for them to work with the city to actually install metal outlines right on the street, with plaques at streetside explaining what's going on?

Laneway Housing University of Toronto (3s, Baird Sampson Neuert)

I think this has been happening for a while -- here's a Vancouver version from a couple of years ago, and iirc I've seen signs looking for recruits for this in Toronto. Off-topic, but where I'd really like to see this model is with empty-nesters in suburban homes -- intensify the property to...

    Metrolinx: Other Items (catch all)

Charge for parking, drop fares by half of the park charge. Stays price-neutral for those who keep driving, but now they have an incentive not to.

    Richmond Hill Toronto | Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

(Would love to see a way to build the terminal out a bit, into the current parking lot, and dip the Harbourfront and Bathurst streetcar routes down to the built-out terminal's front door.)

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

This is spot-on imho. Thinking back to my days as a GO train commuter some years ago (Rutherford on the Barrie line), what I was constantly wishing for was a café and a gym or maybe a public library on-site -- instead of fighting for a place in line to exit the station, I'd gladly have offset...

    Liberty Village pedestrian link

Those bare concrete surfaces would make a nice canvas for graffiti art, maybe?

491 College St (former Latvian House, Allied & RioCan, 3s, Turner Fleischer)

I love that they kept and restored the facade, but I'm a bit surprised not see the combined shebang rise a few storeys higher to create a unifying element set back a bit behind it. The area could certainly stand the density.

    TTC: Streetcar Network

Kind of love this. Additional north-south capacity with easy transfers to all the major east-west routes.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Hey, no fair. The Barrie line stops at Downsview Park on the University-Spadina line and is to add stops on the Eglinton LRT (Caledonia), Bloor-Danforth line (Lansdowne), and at Spadina and Front. The Richmond Hill line stops, in theory, at the Sheppard line (Leslie-Oriole), although that's...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

    What is the Sheppard Loop?

    Toronto Pearson International Airport

You jest, but I have long wished for a cafe right there. Win win.
  16. D

    Richmond Hill Toronto | Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

The extension should be to close the loop from RHC to VMC. North of 7, we already have RT underway, and there is no limit to the ecosystem that can be built in and around that as development and traffic justifies. Planning in southern YR should be more than just endless extension of the edges...

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

Exactly. Equalize fares. Let people choose the mode of transit that makes the most sense to them. Continue to invest in the modes that most meet people's needs -- if it's GO RER, add more trains and cars there, etc.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

This would also address some of the two-hour transfer audience like myself -- I'd be glad to use the TTC more when running errands, and those tend to be off-peak. A cheaper off-peak unlimited transit pass, with a $2-per-trip surcharge or whatever during peak periods, seems to me to be the kind...

    Toronto Toronto | Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

I kind of agree, but worth pointing out that between the various pro sports teams -- Leafs, Jays, Raptors, Toronto FC, and then there's the Argos and Toronto Wolfpack -- we must be talking 200 games annually or so.

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

First: compared to the subway, it's not even close. Second: unlike the subway, don't those GO lines have the ability to add more capacity -- more cars to trains; more trains, if it comes to that?
