Anyone surprised by how skinny those support beams look ...especially for an entire park that will be overtop here?

The OCD in me is totally not understanding the thinking (or lack) behind the spacing of those two signs.

I'd be more than willing to sacrifice a few buildings + a theatre, if this complex elevates the cities design conscious - even just a notch or two. That in itself would be the greatest legacy bestowed by both gehry & mirv to a city sadly stuck with polite gestures of design.

I definitely share coolcanadian's enthusiasm with having a great resort/casino - definitely Ontario place being a fantastic spot. After all, the place was closed because A) it failed to attract enough visitors to cover costs B) became a drain on the public's purse - with a lack of ongoing...

The other proposals - notably 2 & 3 - were much much better. Floating vinyl balloons...come on!

Crap - sometimes I think stakeholders in these projects should just delay the project until its adequately funded or NOT build it at all.

It's awful - looks extremely cheap. I'd be very upset if i purchased a unit here. I'm starting to think that builders should be forced to have samples of cladding in their show room - just as important as their interior demo suites they hawk.

Guess I'm part of the brain drain. As a 30 yr old professional, born & raised in Toronto, I moved to LA for work (multinational corp) 2.5 years ago. From my experience so far, I'll find it hard to return back as the advantages far outweigh the cons. My income tax rate is about the same...

Yes - a Casino would be an absolutely perfect fit and easily make the venue an all-year attraction. With a nice a revenue split between the casino / Ontario place / the city - all parties would benefit from the revenue. I can't imagine anything else that would draw a steady stream of people...

Ugh Marshalls?! I now live in LA, and even though this city is littered with them, I haven't step foot in one twice. I consider it lower on the retail scale than Winners (and I'm somewhat a fan of Winners).

Is it just me, or does the entire project just seem like a big 'meh'. For something billing itself as a 'sports and entertainment' complex, it just seems way too sterile. I understand the project is still under construction, but the bones are unfortunately too corporate and institutional...

What really bothers me with the square is the fact the fountains were originally lit from below - and were programmed to 'dance' in various squences. What the hell happened?
