GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I can picture with how Metrolinx operates, this is exactly what is happening

    General railway discussions

I know it is better business to have the railways abandon underused subdivisions and not just keep them for a "what if" scenario, however when the "what if" happens an alternative route looks very business savy. Good luck to CN and the grain farmers.

Hindsight is always 20/20, but I wonder if someone is kicking themselves for laying off crews during the hight of the pandemic.

    Durham Region Transit / Pulse

Is the disconnect due to waiting for the replacement busses destroyed by the fire? I was assuming that DRT was constrained in offering service due to the lack of busses from the fire.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

The current Director of Customer Protective Services has neutered the department so much, the officers are pretty much there to say Stop or I'll say Stop again. Yes we don't need a Gestapo wandering the train arresting every litterer or minor offender, however the pendulum has swung to far to...

    General railway discussions

I am just curious, does anyone know how CN/VIA has been dealing with the Jasper fires? Are trains just holding until it is clear to proceed or have the been re-routed somehow along CP or some other CN line?

    Starbucks

I know this is a Starbucks thread, however just to add to the discussion on the late night hours of coffee shops, one Tim Hortons in Port Perry will return to being open 24hrs starting next week. This will be the first time this location has been open 24hrs since before Covid.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

With @crs1026 's post above, I know the railbed and tracks will need major upgrades, but in my humble opinion, I would think an Uxbridge extension would be a realitive "quick win" project. I'm not an expert but compared to other GO expansion projects, I would think it would be a realitivly...

    LCBO / The Beer Store

How long should the LCBO supply chain take to catch up, ie restoking the grocery and agency stores? Will it take a week, two weeks or more? To me this shows that no matter how much you open up the retail side, having the LCBO as a monopolistic wholesaler is what needs to be rethought. What is...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Could one of the main reasons for this be the costs of maintaining operations on an existing highway (building detoured right of way and re-establishing original, temporary structures etc.) and staging around that, as opposed to building what is needed, no limits, on greenfield?

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Am I too much of a pessimist, or is it just a sad truth? Over that last 5 years or so, Billions have been spent, incredible amounts of new infrastructure is in place or on the cusp of coming online, however it looks like GO Transit is not much further ahead than it was when work was started? To...

Downtown Grocery Store List (current + proposed)

    Woodbine Centre

If Mr. Hinn, I assume, cannot afford owning the Mall currently, where is he getting the capital to bid on repurchasing the property ?

Do you really believe Metrolinx would be the adult in the room making proper decisions about these routes? ;)
