    Toronto Ridiculous NIMBYism thread

What's weird is how they want the garage entrances off Bloor instead of through the alley. Wouldn't having them off Bloor be worse for traffic?

    Unique Houses in Toronto

I laughed so hard when I saw the rendering with Norm Kelly

    Toronto via YouTube

I was wondering, where are the suburbs shown in Rush's Subdivisions music video. Do any Toronto experts know?

Thanks! I was wondering because I'm not from a place that snows. I've never even actually experienced snow falling, only snow that had previously fallen. Great drone shots by the way. Makes me want to go to Toronto even more.

^It's crazy how far apart the CN tower and the Financial District towers appear from that angle.

    Greater Toronto's Sprawl

Backwards thinking article. This line got me. "Spadina was supposed to link Toronto’s growing suburbs in the northwest to the city’s downtown core, while the DVP did the same in the northeast." Suburbanites aren't entitled to a fast car commute at the expense of the city.

    Greater Toronto's Sprawl

Exceeding the targets by 30% is a great thing, resulting in more affordable housing and reducing sprawl in the 905. I dream of a world where American cities built this much housing. On Greater Toronto's recent sprawl I must point out as an outsider, it doesn't bother me very much. It's denser...

    Toronto Ridiculous NIMBYism thread

4 stories is nothing. For the most part those NIMBYs weren't that extreme. I don't know if it's because the system is more pro-housing or because they're Canadian.

    Toronto Ridiculous NIMBYism thread

California as a whole is super expensive and lacking in housing production. Local governments often don't seem to want to do anything about this problem and sometimes make it worse. It seems to me that we need to give the state government more power over them because that seems to work for you...

    Toronto Ridiculous NIMBYism thread

The whole Bay Area really. I say that once you somebody knows about the massive downzoning of SF in the 70s (and other NIMBY victories there and their effects on housing costs), they'll no longer think of it as the area as the progressive, welcoming place they claim to be. I'm from LA though...

    Toronto Ridiculous NIMBYism thread

As an outsider from a place where NIMBYism has prevented/prevents so many residential units from being built (California), Toronto has it so easy. Consider this: "City planning, as we have currently constructed it, also faces contradictory missions – an urbanism equivalent of “fast, cheap, or...
