    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

IIRC, you can find that info on Steve Munro's site. I remember him doing that analysis and it being slower post ROW. If you consider all the new left hand turns, you can see it making sense.

Different context. Can't apply the same rules.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

While I don't think bike lanes should be that far west, we can't judge yet. Right now the lanes are too new. After the downtown network of properly protected lanes is completed (hopefully this year) we will be in a better place to judge. Do the same analysis in July 2026 and we'd be in a better...

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Errr.. Just paid $3k for repairs on my vehicle. Annual maintenance alone typically exceeds $2K. Guessing that you'd potentially be driving with undiagnosed issues. Add on top insurance, parking, gas, depreciation and I can see how some people can get to 10K. I was curious so I just my average...

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Sort of related to your first points. I've gone to St Jamestown daily this week and something that surprised me was the number of multi seat electric bikes. There seems to be a much higher density of these vehicles in this area for personal use then I have noticed anywhere else in Toronto.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Winter is no longer an excuse for Toronto at least. We barely got snow this year (thank you climate change?). This has been my best winter by far for biking.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Toronto doesn't have a good solution due to the nature of our road system. We need some streets to allow for fast movement around the city and others should allow for fast bike travel across the city. Due to where our bike lanes are setup, we should have some of the other streets like Dundas...

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

It's not cutting the road capacity in half. At all times, whenever there is a second lane, there is someone illegally parked there which dramatically backs up traffic at rush hour. In addition to that, we have our usual construction anywhere and everywhere.

    Toronto Bike Share

Lots of bikes in midtown today

That's interesting setups. I have a personal bike but I essentially never use it (not once this year) so I'll probably be selling it.

407 Rail Freight Bypass/The Missing Link

@drum118 Could there be a connection at Dupont instead of Summerhill? They seem pretty close and the west side of line 1 likely has the capacity.

    Toronto Bike Share

I think Toronto's cycling modal share is a couple years away from a bump. As better infrastructure is put in and awareness increases, cycling will begin to takeoff. When I have conversations about bikeshare, I tell people I pay about $100 (corporate). They assume per month. I tell them it's...

TTC: Electric and alternative fuel buses

Has there been any discussion of which routes the 340 eBuses will run? I can't wait for these quieter and no pollution buses on the street

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

They do have a press conference for basically anything right? 🤣

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

I believe they need to officially hand it over to the TTC? I assume they'd have a press conference for that.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Seems pretty much done. Anybody know whether an opening announcement will be coming soon?

    Toronto Toronto | Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

Doesn't say how fast the express trip will be. I believe the current trip is about 25 minutes? That would make the express potential less than 20 minutes which is pretty amazing.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

I actually thought they'd be further ahead but it looks like they can wrap up these details pretty quickly.

    The Coming Disruption of Transport

I did it for 8 years, most of those with a kid. It was easy with Enterprise weekend deal + car2go + zipcar. I don't know the current situation in the city but it was definitely doable. It was especially great for those months when we never needed a car and I could see my total auto expense being $0.
