That video says it all. Does anyone think that (admittedly amusing in its own clown-esque way) ceremony represented the early history of the Calgary community? That's how "western heritage" is and always has been represented in Calgary. "Western heritage" is a theme park run by the Calgary Stampede.

Doesn't every city in North America have a history that includes some land, sky, woods, and some horses?

    God please no.

I just noticed the porte into the courtyard. It looks awesome.

    Calgary | 1405 - 4th Street | 77m | 24s | GWL | Arcadis

I hate Calgary's obsession with puny two-storey podiums. Feels small town.

    Calgary | First & Park | 75m | 18s | Graywood

I feel like this one might look better once the balcony glass is installed (as long as its something decent)?

Based on that marketing, if they haven't retained Bjarke Ingels Group to design this, we riot.

How dare you place a red x over Bottlescrew Bill's? That place is god-damned institution.

    Calgary | Sunalta Heights | 88.39m | 27s | Housing One | S2

Podium looks a bit taller than I imagined from the renders... that's a pleasant surprise (though its still too short).

    Calgary | Park Central | 134m | 39s | Hines | S.C.B.

Great shot. Its starting to look pretty, pretty, pretty dense.

    Calgary | Riverwalk | 45.11m | 12s | Campion | S2

A couple hundred more of these types of developments in the inner city please and thank you.

If one could wave one's magic wand and fill all of the parking lots adjacent to the CPR rail line through downtown with developments like this (bridging the gap between Beltline and CBD), it would take Calgary's city centre to the next level.

How is there no grocery store in Bridgeland yet?

    Calgary | Eau Claire Market Redevelopment | 135.02m | 35s | Harvard Developments

Eau Claire has advantages though: proximity to the river/prince's Island park and Chinatown. It just needs to leverage them.

    This is really nice.

    Calgary | Courtyard 33 | 21.64m | 6s | RNDSQR | 5468796 Architecture

I was really worried about how this was going to turn out while it was covered in scaffolding, but I love the finally unveiled finished product. I think it looks amazing.

    Calgary | 11th + 11th | 138.07m | 44s | Intergulf | Ramsay Worden

Personally, I think its pretty ugly. Its too busy. And the portions with white spandrel look cheap.

    Calgary | West District | ?m | ?s | Truman

    Those both look pretty nice.

    Calgary | The Fifth | 17m | 5s | Arlington Street | NORR

The strip mall and Shell station (especially) on the South side of 17th Avenue basically kill any urban feel, no?

    Calgary | Courtyard 33 | 21.64m | 6s | RNDSQR | 5468796 Architecture

I'm reserving judgment until all (or most) of the finishing touches are complete. I still think this might turn out great.
