    Toronto Toronto | Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

Then hopefully express trains will stop at Mount Dennis once it opens. Depending on how it's scheduled, you could take a Kitchener Line train from Bloor to Mount Dennis, then transfer to UPX.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I think a Guelph-Cambridge-Brantford bus service might work. It’ll complement the Waterloo-Guelph-Hamilton and Brantford-Aldershot services.

    Intercity Bus Services

Busbud has Megabus? I don't think I've ever seen it.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

IIRC "Metrolinx News" was a separate website that used Wordpress. I guess they decided to change the wording now that it's integrated into the main Metrolinx site.

I don’t get what the big fence on the sides are for.

    GTHA Transit Fare Integration

That’s half the reason why we didn’t have fare integration till now (the other half being agencies didn’t want to lose revenue). This many different agencies, each with their own fare policies, meant a lot of edge cases that had to be worked out.

    GTHA Transit Fare Integration

Here are my records. It appears that on the 10th, my YRT-TTC trip was two fares, but my TTC-YRT trip was one fare.

    GTHA Transit Fare Integration

It officially started on Monday, but my trips from the weekend were covered by One Fare, and possibly as early as February 10th. They probably spent two weeks making sure everything was in order, so the program was probably "turned on" by then. It's just that they couldn't guarantee you'll only...

    Richmond Hill Toronto | Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Actually I double checked, and it's the entire area (except for one poll by 3 votes) between the Ladies Golf Club, Yonge, the Holy Cross Cemetery and Bayview, so maybe more like 1-2 thousand homeowners. But it wasn't as deep red as I remembered: the Liberal candidate got around 50% compared to...

    Richmond Hill Toronto | Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Of course there’s a political element to it. I saw the poll-by-poll results for Thornhill in the last provincial election. Bay Thorn Drive was dark red in a sea of blue.

Still in favour of putting the spa here (I wonder if this was ever seriously considered).

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

I support this only if there is a plan to run an express bus on it and/or use it as a “truckway” (and reducing congestion by reducing heavy truck traffic on nearby streets) after the subway opens.

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I could see them banning left turns at Eglinton/Leslie. This will extend the grade-separated section to Don Mills.

I don't remember, but I also don't claim to be making a statement of fact. We would probably need someone with insider knowledge to settle this definitively, and they might not at liberty to disclose.

    VIVA + York Region Transit

What I heard was that MTO vehicles are exempt from 407 tolls, and GO buses pay a special discounted rate in return for not going to court over whether GO buses count as “MTO vehicles”. Other transit buses would just pay the regular commercial rate since this doesn’t apply and since they don’t...

    VIVA + York Region Transit

I wonder how many people will use Pioneer Village station as a pedestrian tunnel after fare integration. Tap in at the entrance next to the YRT bus terminal, then exit at the TTC bus terminal without boarding a train. This provides an indoor, signal-free way to cross Steeles.
  17. S

    VIVA + York Region Transit

I used to commute to York U on the Viva Purple. Going westbound, the wait to turn left onto Keele from Highway 7 could be as long as 15 minutes during peak hours. And Keele itself was also heavily congested from both university and truck traffic. I think YRT wanted to run a bus from RHC to...

    VIVA + York Region Transit

Airport travel might be an exception. Design routes to connect to GO Route 40, which is surprisingly popular, especially considering how it's mostly promoted via word-of-mouth. Possibly downtown travel too, if/when parking gets increasing scarce due to redevelpment. Why isn't York Region like...

    VIVA + York Region Transit

And the two routes that are essentially extensions of the subway (20 and 98/99) should run overnight. Unforuntately, judging from the feedback for the annual service initiatives, I might literally be the only person to suggest this.
