    Toronto Pearson International Airport

Number of flights is not the same as passenger volume. AC flies a lot of planes to LGA, but they're all ERJs, CRJs, 737s, and A320s. Half the flights to Vancouver and Calgary are wide bodies (some of them being some of the densest 777s in the world), and the other half are still mainline jets.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

The 25, 25B, 25C, and 25D were supposed to be extended to Kipling. That would be far better than serving Bramalea for the majority of commuters/Students The 25F served 407 station. Again, far preferable to Bramalea. Those subway connections are better than the service provided to Bramalea. Most...

    Toronto Pearson International Airport

I'm not so sure about that. Most new airlines that have started serving Pearson in the past year or so have been funneled into T1 (Lynx, Air Inuit (If I remember correctly), and Air North), largely because T3 is completely out of room despite the continued use of the infield terminal. The GTAA...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Trains (at least on Wednesday prior to the schedule change) were standing room only east of Mount Pleasant on certain trains. You could instead run the train express through Mt. Pleasant and Bramalea, or Mt Pleasant and Brampton, but you risk interfering with existing service more (you could...

But its not at all Subway connections will always be superior to GO connections, especially on Weekends.

Was suggesting that a few express trips should run from Kitchener to Mt. Pleasant, then express to Union, instead of running express from Bramalea to Union. It's more - Closer to 35 minutes. The run used to be 2 hrs and 10 mins, and there are still slow zones that can be taken care of.

I'm fairly disappointed they aren't even considering extending some of the kitchener express trains to Mt. Pleasant. There are some trains (6:45) that are full by that station. You could get trains below the 1.5 hr mark if they did so, even more if they sped things up through georgetown. I'm...

8 Minutes would be ridiculous, at least pre-pandemic. You don't just have to worry about the 40 Eglinton buses, but all the new induced demand and new surface route connections. For instance, I would very much expect some people to start taking the Lawrence east bus now that they have a much...

While definitely true, if we're being honest, it's not like public sector positions are the most productive. There's also the burden of specializations (for things like blast protection, high-risk fire protection, etc) that a city would never need the services of on a regular basis, but...

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

True enough, but the crosstown's maintenance bill was something like 2.5 billion dollars for 30 years. Tunneled length is similar but there are guideways, so assuming everything (including infltation) is 1.5* that (3.75 B), and assuming 60M a year in ops factoring in inflation (30 years that's...

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

9B - 2 B for the trains and systems so 7B for ops; 230M per year. By way of comparison, the crosstown is supposed to cost 30M a year and its similar in terms of surface/underground length. On top of that, they actually have to staff the trains. 100%, they're making all their money on...

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

You still have to heat it if the component is small enough or the temperatures are low enough as per the OPSS. It's part of the reason Grandlinq had heaters everywhere during the winter months while placing track. Never said they wouldn't, especially when financial penalties are present, but...

    Transit Ridership Statistics & Tracking

People just like driving, and if anything this kind of shows that people will drive unless transit is faster. Once the roads are clogged people will take transit.

Contractors hate doing concrete work in the winter due to heating requirements. Generally, they'll still do it if it's confined to one space that can easily be heated and they're time constrained, but for long pours forget it (ie curbs/gutters, concrete paving, LRT tracks, pole bases, etc.

It seems to also be during weekdays. Their commuter lines are looking at ridership closer to 65-75% pre pandemic ridership, meanwhile the subways are stuck at 60%. My guess is more stringent office work requirements. Of course, we don't have day by day comparisons so it's hard to cross check.

    Transit Ridership Statistics & Tracking

Ridership from Kitchener has got to be at an all-time high, daily usage of the station is probably close to 1000 boardings and 1000 alighting's when it's not a student migration day. For those, see: Ironically, in some US cities, regional rail ridership recovery is actually exceeding that of...

Isn't basically all the remaining work indoor or building related? If they were laying track and there wasn't a penalty for delays, they probably would just wait till the spring for that, but if they're doing station work, there's no reason not to work through the winter.

As someone who takes that particular train at least weekly, it gets decent service - about as many if not more riders than VIA West of Kitchener. For one trip a day, it's honestly fine. Preferable to VIA even.
