    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Out of curiosity, does the Line 6 Citadii shudder like it's going to go off the rails when it makes the turn at Humber College like the Ottawa ones do on a tight (really any) corner?

I mean they already did once. I'm assuming the extension to Vaughan wasn't already buried there under the map, but it could have been. I can't recall then being on the map when the TRs first started appearing, but not living in Toronto at the time I wasn't a regular rider so I might be...

    TTC Cartography, Signage, and Wayfinding

Visitors to Toronto are far more likely to use a streetcar then a bus even though to the locals it's all kind of the same. You could argue only the LRT-like streetcars count such as St Clair and waterfront/Spadina

In terms of making the most of what we have, I definitely agree with making double track from Mooney's Bay to Walkley, and the full distance from Corso Italia to Dows lake. The single track sections through the tunnel and the Rideau River bridge are manageable. The goal would be to get to that...

It may actually be specific to Ottawa. They had a set of unique rules approved by TC, though I can't find the actual list, just the reference to the meeting https://tc.canada.ca/en/binder/55-city-ottawa-capital-railway-trillium-line

Not quite, I'm just saying it's already a done deal. What's the point of the comparison ? They built what they built. We know REM and many other electric lines are faster. REM was also quite a bit more expensive, though it's the gold standard I'd say in bang for buck. The REM is faster than the...

I mean yes it's true, but it kind of feels like you're kicking it when its down. The results are fairly obvious, and the 25kph is a transport Canada thing Ottawa has no choice over. Given the commuter rail like nature of Line 2 it's more fair to compare it to a Go train traveling similar...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

I don't know about that. That dreaded one they used to have near Sheppard West was the slowest I think I have ever moved on a subway or lrt anywhere I've been
  9. K

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

It seems excessively slow. That's much slower than ION, which travels almost double the distance in that same 46 minutes. I know Finch is using the beloved Citadis which is so near and dear to our hearts in Ottawa, and maybe that they are afraid of it going off the rails, quite literally

    TTC Cartography, Signage, and Wayfinding

To quote your previous example, actually Dominion to Kichi Sibi is actually a case where it was more relevant. Dominion Dr is an unimportant side street in the area, whereas the general ward in Ottawa is well known as the older transliteration, Kitchissipi. I can't talk to Pioneer Village, but...

There does have to be some consideration of diminishing returns though when it comes to safety. The men were being incredibly reckless, which really makes it hard to justify doing any thing more than saying this is a tragedy but no new safety measures are required

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

I remember first seeing that sign and wondering what the hell, but it's just confusing wayfinding since both the University itself and the station entrance are that way. And since the sign (not the station) has to be translated.... I wouldn't be surprised to see a similar sign at Humber College

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

It's actually better to use the common local name for the station. In Ottawa there's only one station with a bilingual name, Parliament/Parlement. All the others remain in their default language used by the locals, like "Mooney's Bay","Tunney's Pasture" "Lycée Claudel", "Place d'Orléans" etc.

I'm curious, is there a possibility there wasn't even any intrusion detection setup in this section? After all it was in the middle of a highway median, they might not have thought it was necessary to add in this location

    Toronto Toronto | Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I didn't mean to derail the thread with semantics about Ottawa. As an FYI the entire system is branded OTrain, both line 1 and the original, now né Line 2. But the point is that the trip from South Key via Line 2 to Rideau is longer than the old (still existing) transitway bus as it takes a...

    Toronto Toronto | Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Not sure if this explanation would apply in Toronto, but in Ottawa line 2 is *slower* than the bus it replaced to the most popular destination: Rideau and the Byward market. But it's popular and has high ridership. Comfort is one factor, but reliability was the main reason it wins. The bus you...

    Toronto Toronto | Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I would have thought the whole driving into oncoming traffic would have been a clue. It's really a mystery how some people got a licence in the first place

    Toronto Toronto | Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

One danger sign of "worse and trying to hide it" is how the Ontario government was gleeful about doing an inquiry around the confederation line and even made a big deal about threatening to not fund future extensions due to mismanagement, yet has shut down any attempt of a similar inquiry for...

    Toronto Toronto | Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

It does seem to have stolen the unwanted crown from the Otrain. It's beginning to feel like this and Line 6 are never going to open. I mean I know they will open, but this is nuts

Just noticed this on the virtual tour. That must be a sign error, there's no way there's 26 bus stops
