Toronto child poverty rate at "epidemic levels"

I wonder if it is even worth my weighing in on this issue. I see a few comments blaming the poor for being poor and having offspring, The amount of ignorance that exists out there, I don't know if I should even bother speaking up. But what I will never ever forget are all the panhandlers...

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Spadina was pretty wide open before the work was done to put in the Spadina LRT/510 Spadina streetcar around 1994-1997. The original right of way that existed into the early 20th century had little space for automobiles then. Allocating half of the 510's capital budget for the short tunnel at...

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

The sidewalks on Spadina Ave. actually had to be cut back and narrowed in order to put in the then dubbed Spadina LRT ROW. The sidewalks get especially narrow near Wellington and Front St. and with CityPlace built, it does make the sidewalk less hospitable with a more or less Spadina...

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

I hope that future LRVs are longer in length with MU operation available, imagine how many people could be moved along the streetcar routes. Some of the above posts talk about the future DRL and related congestion on Yonge. Given how the Queens Quay streetcar ROW link was completed back in...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

There was no long term plan for a heavy rail rapid transit line extension to Scarborough Town Centre along the Bloor line. The last time there was a serious debate over subway expansion was back in 1994 when Metro could only approve two out of four rapid transit expansion projects. Even the...

    Toronto Toronto | Market Wharf | 110.33m | 33s | Context Development | a—A

Here's a few pics I have taken since late 2009. I have more photos that I will have to resize in order for the site to allow me to upload the rest of the pics from my Canon T3i. I would love to become a more regular contributor to Urban Toronto. I still remember saving what little allowance...

    Toronto Toronto | Forma | 308m | 84s | Great Gulf | Gehry Partners

I think the time is fast approaching where better traffic flow will have to be arranged for this part of the city. If there are going to be three 85 story condo towers in that part of the city, never mind what has already been built and what is yet to come, then the city will have to act on...

    Toronto Toronto | TCHC Block 32 Development | ?m | 41s | TCHC | KPMB

I'm happy to hear of dishwashers and washers and dryers being installed in some of the new TCHC buildings. Having exclusive access to a washer and dryer will definitely take the strain off of the laundry room facilities. And given that the city is about to raise a bit over half of the money...

Maple Leaf Gardens Is Slowly Turning Into A Loblaws Grocery Store And Ryerso

Another building that was gutted, restored and had a new building built within is the new police station at Front and Parliament, 51 division I think it is. :)

TCHC Begins Construction on Block 31, 42 and 36 in CityPlace

Yes, there will be a library coming to Cityplace in block 31 I believe. Bathurst St at Fort York blvd will also be getting a rehabilitation to align it properly with the completed section of Fort York blvd east of Bathurst. At present the bridge and the new street do not line up.
