The podium has already been hit with one dose of reality, wonder what else they’ll VE next. Shame really though, loved the initial render, so much more expressive.

Beautiful shots as always! Though I think someone may have stolen your shots on Reddit!

    Toronto Toronto | 214-230 Sherbourne | 150.55m | 46s | KingSett Capital | Hariri Pontarini

I’m no expert, but after following a few KingSett threads, my understanding is this will never be built in its current form.

Ground floor retail has now been leased. Looks like a health food/smoothie spot from the same people that run the ‘boozy brunch’ spot The Morning After. The second floor unit with the terrace is still up for lease. There’s also two other units across the street in 8 Mercer that’s been leased...

    Toronto Toronto | The Whitfield | 130m | 39s | Menkes | Giannone Petricone

I think 8 Mercer also has painted precast and it's held up for the last 8 years.

So glad they actually bring the brick structure down to the ground level. To other developers, look! You can have floor to ceiling glass while still providing visual support for the podium. Please stop with the 5 story faux-brick cube floating on glass tippy toes.

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line: Exhibition Station | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | HDR

Wow, I used this tunnel to get to the Dom Dolla show at the amphitheatre and didn't even realize it was new and/or supposed to be permanent infrastructure. Just thought it was temporary during OL construction. We really lack civic pride to build brand new public infrastructure like this.

    Toronto Toronto | 55 Mercer | 155.5m | 47s | CentreCourt | Arcadis

The city actually heard how much we like old European cities but brought us back to a time before paved roads existed

Guess it’s a no go for Fogo (de Chao)

    Toronto Toronto | CIBC SQUARE | 241.39m | 50s | Hines | WilkinsonEyre

Interesting, can someone with more knowledge correct my assumptions: Are they doing this because they expect to renovate the 1 Queen St East in the next decade or is it more likely they're looking to sell that asset?
  11. D

    Toronto Toronto | KING Toronto | 57.6m | 16s | Westbank | Bjarke Ingels Group

Now that would be an open concept floor plan

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line: Pape Station | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | HDR

I was getting mighty jealous of the new parts of the Sydney Metro… but if Ontario Line sticks to quality materials I’ll be a tad less jealous.

    King West

Looks like it might be a gym? Unless this permit is for a new gym for Hyatt Also unrelated to Hyatt, the former Aroma spot North East of King and Charlotte is going to be a Chipotle.

    Toronto Toronto | The Well | 174.03m | 46s | RioCan | Hariri Pontarini

Just came across this application for a restaurant called, BOHCA. Not sure if that's an acronym for a previously announced restaurant.
  15. D

    Toronto Toronto | 400 King West | 157.37m | 48s | Plaza | BDP Quadrangle

Unless there's news I missed, I think it'll be many many years till 388 King West gets built, at least in its current commercial/retail form. 411 King West would also add some variety to this stretch of King but that's been dormant even longer I believe.
  16. D

    Toronto Toronto | Maverick | 154.53m | 49s | Empire | Arcadis

This feels like the first time in a decade where the south sidewalk on King between John and Spadina has been scaffold-free and uninterrupted
  17. D

    Toronto Toronto | Peter and Adelaide | 152.39m | 47s | Graywood | BBB

Started seeing equipment on the second floor retail unit. Really hope BestCo isn’t planning to put all the refrigeration up against the windows!
  18. D

    Toronto Toronto | 400 King West | 157.37m | 48s | Plaza | BDP Quadrangle

Lot of similarities between this and Theatre District, not surprising as they’re both Plaza BDPQ projects, so I expect the tower cladding to be similar too
  19. D

    Toronto Toronto | 357 King West | 148.13m | 42s | Great Gulf | BDP Quadrangle

This joke is played to death, if you can’t make a decent meal with a 4 burner stove and oven you’re just telling on yourself. Its not like this is Smart House on Queen W Source
  20. D

    Toronto Toronto | Alias | 160.52m | 48s | Madison Group | Teeple Architects

No I’m referring to the grey spandrel and this will be another mess like Madison’s other cheap tower, Nobu
