Yes! That's exactly it precisely. And the only argument you ever hear to counter these concerns is that the parking restrictions exist in all major downtowns. You'd 100% get the student vote hahahah. Imagine being a starving student and having at least a fighting chance at free parking every...

It comes at my expense and the expense of others with bad timing, but affordability in the housing market is a very good thing for Edmonton. That said, I think we're going to see in increase in central values y/y based off a few metrics, we're just not there yet.

That's a great analysis and point of view. Mine's fairly anecdotal based off my own views. Kinda crappy to have people over for drinks and wings on a game night then when one gets a ticket from the meter maid they all stop coming and we all goto South Edmonton Common instead. Downtown is still...

I've been saying it for years. Accessibility and amenities. You give burbanites the ability to park on streets they will come explore downtown more often, they won't pay and that's a fact of life that the city shouldn't try to fight. You invest in things that are fun: parks, bowling alleys...

So, like....should I stop trying to sell my place downtown? lol

    Downtown Real Estate

That title isn't really being fair to the Katz group considering the article itself clearly states they're following the current permitting process for surface parking. Title is designed to draw outrage at the local billionaire, when they're actually playing by the rules while others just let...

I mean you didn't hear this from Ol' Steve-O but I'm sure if you were curious you could get some empirical measurements using a drone. Or just email their sales peeps and ask.

I’m not sure you will see prices rise rapidly as there is still a lot of inventory in the market to cushion low prices. As a seller I’d like to be wrong. I just don’t see even holding a vacant unit for a year as being worth it.

Lots of activity now in the condo market. Seems like the buying season started early this year

Also, I suppose the reason I'm scratching my head about the opinions on this building is because I've lived in quite a few cities and think this tower looks alot like what you see being built in Surrey, New West, and Burnaby - whilst also being pretty damn well insulated based off what I've been...

Eh. I'm not really too worried about brownie points on some message board. I typically stick to my opinions and convictions whether they are 'glass half full" or not. My sentiments come from having talking to my renters over the past 9 years. I'm interested in what's important to them in housing...

Somebody at Langham 20 years ago found a screaming deal on railing at Uncle Weiners Surplus Liquidation and scooped it ALL up. Edit: for those who are wondering that is a legit liquidation place on the west side and freaking awesome. lol

Gotta remember that these units are serving purchasers and renters who are looking for function over form. If it means maintaining affordable prices in the core and getting more people into the area, I'm all for it.

The province and the Feds really don't see eye to eye on a lot of matters and there's a bit of hostility on both sides. Doesn't really surprise me that they're not putting a face on for the public and I actually kinda appreciate that.

    Warehouse District Park

I know I've been getting alot of notices from Shaw regarding utilities relocation. It's most likely prep work for the VLRT-W but I also believe the Shaw fiber trunk runs N-S through the back alley towards Jasper. If so, impacted 3rd parties have been notified of the park's impact, and are...

Thanks Chaz, I'm really hoping to sell because I intend on buying an SFD afterwards. I had to put a significant amount of renos into the unit and though I believe ya, I can't really risk damaging the place's pristine condition. Thanks for the thought though!

Ian you may be the only person I know on any message board that does something as benign as sharing information for others to enjoy and get attacked for it by a handful of other posters who don't like that you used a secondary source. Thank God these people didn't grade my papers in university...

Out of nowhere mine just started seeing a bunch of foot traffic. I’d hold but I’m so done with tenants lol.
