I think its neither here nor there. Highrises at the water's edge (mostly) don't do a disservice to Lower Manhattan's waterfront. Similarly, Grant Park is not the only reason that Chicago's waterfront is admired. I would look to more definite culprits like the railway tracks when trying to...

Given that that corner of scaffolding has been lowered, is the dark corner section installed/visible?

A Future Render Of Canderel Stoneridge's Aura Condo

Member created renders are always drool-worthy, but almost always over-estimate the height of the completed building, even if only by a couple pixels. Part of this may also stem from how much more the render contrasts with the photo background than the real thing eventually will.

why on earth is the building on the left an amateurish mashup of the base of commerce court and 33 bloor east? it doesn't even make sense. something similarly fishy is happening on the right side as well.

Bay Adelaide Centre West Tower (Brookfield, 50s, WZMH)

The skyscraperpage diagrams of NY and Chicago show only one logo on their combined first pages. Though I agree it is a common phenomenon around the world, especially in Asia, there is significance to the fact that FCP held the record for the highest sign in the world until 1997.

I feel the same. We have an affinity for them here, more so than any city in North America, save Las Vegas. Maybe its a way of making up for understated Toronto architecture?

Looking out the window of the subway today traveling north towards Rosedale, I realized what a massive presence this tower will have from that vantage point.

^ Agreed. Its a Garden Inn. Frankly I think we should be thankful its not more cookie cutter than this.

That's what I thought when I saw it too. Then I remembered hearing about devonshire being turned into a pedestrian zone, which is what I think the render depicts. http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/article/811045--pedestrian-zones-planned-at-u-of-t-and-ryerson

In general I completely agree. Festival tower is a great example of a project that was judged too early by many on the forum. Unlike that project however, the renders of Trump Tower never held too much promise, at least since the redesign which removed both the height and north-face set back...

First time poster, long time lurker, but i had to get in on this debate: I have to side with UD on this one. Just because a building isn't as fugly as say 10 Dundas does not make it a respectable piece of architecture. Trump Toronto may be aesthetically passable, but it is more concerned with...
