It’s good they are going forward to get an overall plan in place, but given there are two separate private companies that want to build their rail, is waiting much longer going to kill their interest (particularly PraireLink HSR)?

Just wondering, but why was a tunnel chosen for the downtown corridor , and not an elevated track? The costs have ballooned because of it, and if they chose elevated track, then a lot more of the Green Line would have been able to built in phase 1.

I don’t think the train would go to Cochrane itself, it would be a stop on the train on the Banff-Calgary corridor, which has a different purpose than commuter rail. Airdrie and Okotoks/High River would probably where the Commuter rail would start as a project in Calgary.

Best they will do is write a strongly worded letter. If that. I bet they will not address it at all, and we’ll be stuck with an underwhelming development at a prominent area of the city. It’s preventable.

Considering the growth outside of Calgary in neighbouring communities, it makes sense to have a GO train style system
